Anyone know where the Seahawk Club is meeting before? I think me and 08 are headed to the game.

RE: @UNC - GAME 1
Three Man Weave has UNC as their # 4 team in the country this year (behind Gonzaga, Houston, and Baylor). A few items they've tweeted about UNC since their full preview isn't available:

"Depth is strong with returners + 3 top 100 FR. UNC has a POY candidate, another potential All-American & gamebreaker in Love, a lock-down defender in Black, a do-everything F in Nance, & a highly skilled table setter in Davis. UNC should be scary good in Hubert's 2nd season."

"Leaky Black is back for a 5th year. He's one of the best defenders in the country and took major strides offensively last season. Title game stalwart Puff Johnson & Dontrez Styles hope to play more this year, & Hubert has indicated he hopes to use his bench more in '23..."

"Defense - particularly on the perimeter - must improve. Down the stretch, UNC was lock-down ranking 11th in Bart Torvik on D from 2/15 on. If that carries over, UNC is a title contender. More consistency from Love will also be key..."

This is who they have as UNC's projected starters:

That's a veteran-laden team right there. A rarity in the era of the one-and-dones.

kind of ironic a guy named Leaky is good on defense :)

That's a very big and talented team. Davis should make at least another F4 with this squad.

Hope our guys compete well, and have a shot at a big time upset!

RE: @UNC - GAME 1
Massive size and talent differential in the paint. We're going to have to throw all three of our big men at them just to stay out of foul trouble. The press isn't as effective when the guards are big enough to go over the top and the guys getting the ball can go to the rack and finish. We don't have an established identity we can go to with confidence. It will be interesting to see who steps up in this type of situation. My first thought is Harvey, White and H-Hayes will be the guys.

20+ loss sounds about right for a team that hasn't had a chance to figure out who they are.

I understand that some feel that we get blow out. I also see a young Seahawk team that has a ton of unproven talent but going against the best. The spread will be 20 plus against the best team but in reality, it's early.

My guess is that the Hawks will compete and surprise people. Everyone thinks that this will be a blowout and i get it and it may be because it's #1 UNC. However, you have to understand that it is early and UNCW is no push over at all plus the Hawks know that they are a good program and are talented as well.

I wouldn't be shocked with a closer game than many may think. Hawks lost a ton of scoring and experience but has serious talent. Go Hawks!!

RE: @UNC - GAME 1
Hawks aren't bulky but we do have some height. Most height i've seen on the roster in decades. Completely forgot N Ross was 6'7" 200 lbs. He is also a guy who may shine and could get extended minutes if he does. Phillips is foul prone and having a guy with the skill and size of Ross on the floor against a huge UNC team could help us a lot.

We've got pretty good overall size we can start and bring off the bench. We've only got four guys on the roster under 6'6" and eight guys at least 6'7".

S Phillips 6'2" 185 lbs/J Thomas 6'0" 185 lbs./ Newby
N Ross 6'7" 200 lbs/J Harvey 6'4" 170 lbs
T White 6'6" 190 lbs/Hodge 6'7" 180 lbs./Farrar 6'7" 230 lbs.
M H Hayes 6'7" 195 lbs/ EVDH 6'9" 215 lbs.
V Enoh 6'8" 250 lbs/Kelly 6'9" 225 lbs./McGriff 6'8" 200 lbs

I really like the balance of the roster right now. Having so many big guards takes the pressure off the 5 to be the only/primary rebounder, too.

Enoh was solid the other night and I'm interested to see how much PT he gets against UNC and how he looks. I dunno who will end up getting the bulk of the minutes at the 5 but all 3 look fairly capable.

Have to assume they are going to foul a lot. UNC is big and Bacot is going to be a beast in the post. I like the bulk of Enoh to establish position and hold it on offense and defense, and Kelly should be able to hang with him to a certain extent. I just don't think McGriff is ready for that smoke.

If Hawks can touch the paint with Shy or Thomas and be within 11 rebounds plus force 14 TOS, Hawks can have a good showing.

Defensive rotations have to be sharp and not late with our style of play. Hawks need to step into shots with confidence.

Play each possession and have some fun. You never know?

Just want to note that a 23 point loss is about an 11 point differential per half. Or, about five made baskets per half differential. I don't consider that a blowout loss but it does represent the difference between a high level P5 school with returning starters vs. a midmajor that lost the top three scorers and is bringing in 10 new players. It's also a comfortable margin that Davis is going to want to have to assure there isn't an upset like Louisville suffered.

Shy staying out of foul trouble against a much bigger team will be a big key.
