Watched the entire game last night. This is what I was hoping we'd avoid because we played such a cupcake schedule, but we can't consistently play at a high level and don't adjust well after the first gameplan gets shut down.

Soft OOC schedule followed by very tough MAC. schedule to date.

Weird. Impossible to determine if this team is say top 5 or 6 or bottom third. I have no idea.

We need to see EMU play some bottom half teams and see if they can win more than half.

Castro needs to make the MAC tournament and do specular or non renewal of his contract would seem probable.

In his 6th season he has won 38 percent of his games! Agree! To put this into perspective in only his 2nd season though, Heath men's basketball has won only 28 percent of his games though! We very rarely fire coaches! Murphy was superior to both, and lasted A decade! I hope Castro can find away to make the MAC tournament! He seems like a really good guy!

I'd go as far as to say that short of a MAC Championship he will be non-renewed. I in no way/shape/form know how the administration thinks of him, but as pointed out, it has been 6.5 years and we're not where other coaches have been able to get this program. Quite frankly I've seen enough of Castro-led teams.

Better to win ugly than lose pretty!

Today's game didn't instill much confidence for me going forward, but a win is a win.

The women win on the road against a good WMU team. Blow a 21 point lead but went on to win by 11.

Last night was a great win for the women.

On the road. A WMU team that has been solid thus far this MAC season. The contributions came from different players instead of just Skanes and Austin.

Two in a row. One more and we've got ourselves a win streak.

HUGE task with Toledo coming to town on Saturday.

Once again sports, politics, economy, etc. are crazy. Seemingly only the sunrise and sunset for millions of years has been predictable. But that has to do with God and not man.

We predicted good things for MBB and bad things for WBB. Some thought by 12/312022 Castro could be in deep, deep trouble. Now it appears EMU has a good chance to make the MAC tourney (top 8 going) and end up with a decent, winning record.

And, of course, MBB the opposite as described in hundreds and hundreds (have we hit 1,000 yet?) posts.

Almost as many posts about men's basketball recruiting prior to this season starting. Good luck to the women making a tourney run. Still not too late for the men's team.

EMU was without star Lauren Ross, who injured her knee. With Ross, WMU was average. Without Ross, Western is awful and will beat almost no one.

Former EMU head coach Suzy Merchant involved in minor accident. We hope she gets released out of the hospital soon.

Not that I know of. We talked together many times. She knew about mine but never talked about any she might have had. Most people don't out of fear of being stigmatized or even fired. Which has happened to me. I brag about mine not to show off but to destigmatize having a disability. People with disabilities are just as good employees as those without. 07-coffee3

RE: Women's basketball
Castro has to put the ball more in freshman PG Olivia Smith's hands and have her shoot more.

As turnovers are killing the team and Smith commits few turnovers. She's also EMU's best shooter but takes few FGA's, and thus should be shooting far more than she does.

He should also teach his players how to foul less. No reason his bigs inside should constantly body-up when opponent has the ball, and then bring their arm down and commit a shooting foul when opponent shoots the ball.

EMU has the potential to be a very good team.

I had to go to Google to get the answer...

Hint: She developed the problem as the MSU HC, not at EMU.

RE: Women's basketball
Finally got a chance to re-watch the women's game from Saturday. Boy, did we grab defeat from the jaws of victory!

When it came down to it, I thought our style was going to pull off the win from a superior team. But in the end Tricia out-coached Fred. A 13-4 run to end OT is less than ideal.

I'm still hopeful in this stretch that we can make something good happen. Some more favorable games are on the horizon.

Agree and 2 starters fouling out is usually the kiss of death.

BTW, when did EMU WBB start re-issuing #32 again? I thought EMU retired Heady 's number?
