Morehead is clearly a cut above.

Moorhead's play calling on Offense was fantastic. He has the QB in Irons. He can turn that one around

I’m glad to see Neathery change up the formations. Do think he needs a fresh perspective and some recruiting help. Feels like Morehead out coached him.

[I'm happy won. we are bowl eligible with 2 games left.

initial thoughts...
1. Sparacio is REALLY good. Our linebackers last year were so bad and Sparacio reminds you of what we should be.

2. We looked undisciplined

3. Smith looked good [/u]

What a night... EMU hangs on to win and the races for the house and senate are both up for grabs.

I try to avoid criticizing players by name, but well paid coaches are fair game. Neathery would have been fired as a high school DC. Gotta go. I am sure he is a lovely person, but if your defensive strategy is have a future pro bowler at defensive end, you need a new line of work.

Honestly we haven't dominated a team for four quarters all year. I really would like to see us do that our remaining two games and finish strong this season with two additional wins.

We will need another LB of Sparacio's caliber next year to bookend with Cline.

To your point #2 we average over 76 yards per game in penalties and now have 83-765 yards for the season. You would think the coaching staff would have cleaned this up by now.

This place is hilarious! Not ONE person here predicted a MAC championship this season and now we don't win pretty enough. I'd say this is massive progress for a program that was once left for dead. Still a lot to play for. This program is in great shape, enjoy it.

Very true Bob! It's how we won, we barely beat the worst team in the league with their backup QB! Moorehead totally outcoached us as well! We were lucky to win! #1 was wide open in the middle of the 4th quarter! Up next Kent St! Let's win

RE: Game Week: @Akron
A win is a win, I'll take it. That game was still an embarrassment though. That Wiley kid had 144 yards last night, going into the game he only had 214. The worst rushing attack in America ran all over us, and that is without multiple o-linemen throughout the game and top runner (their QB) going out in the first half.

The playcalling was frustrating again. I like doing some misdirection and trick plays, like I thought the one against Toledo was a great play and perfect time for it. When you are going up against an awful team and the first drive you just keep giving it to Evans and they can't stop him...why stop?!?! Just let him punch it in and go up 7-0, instead we run that QB throwback that got blown up. Then of course the Creighton special, we're up two scores with lots of time left in the 4th quarter...who didn't see a sequence of run, run, pass, here is the ball coming?

On the plus side, yes I know their defense is bad, but the O-line played great, and Sameson was the man last night! Clearly not 100% but kept pounding away and was awesome on the final drive to drain out the clock and bring home the win! I also though Smith looked better as a passer, he was only 16/28 (probably could have been 18-20/28 if not for a few drops). Made a few nice throws, and didn't miss any wide open guys (at least that I can remember). His one interception was a bad throw, but it was a 4th down so I guess not the end of the world.

Now five bowl games in last six (full) seasons! I think if we all take a step back from where we feel about this season, the coaching staff, etc. we have to be happy about that. Yes, we all want more, and could have probably had more this year but if we are all being honest less than a decade ago if anyone had said EMU is going to go to five bowls in a six year span none of us would believe it, and we would have signed up for it.

Now that we have that sixth win, it'll be nice to focus on trying to get some other things accomplished as a program (I know we have a VERY outside chance at the MAC-west still but I'm not even thinking about that). There are three things I'd like to see them get done over the last three games (two of which will be against teams with a losing record):

1. Getting over that seven win hurdle that seems to be the ceiling under Creighton. It would be nice to get to (at least) eight, and one step to getting there can be...

2. Win the Michigan MAC trophy by beating CMU. We haven't done that since Creighton has been here.

3. Win a bowl game.

With the win Creighton got a 1 year extension, 10k raise, and 25k bonus.

Not true...I'm losing the $20 bucks I placed back in August on EMU to win the MAC. Damn that Toledo game!

I lost a few bucks on that bet as well. Also looks like I lost the $1 I put on the Lions to beat the Jags in the Super Bowl. The payout was over $10k.

RE: Game Week: @Akron
I wanted to make the following comments:

1) Indeed winning 6 games in 5 of the last 6 seasons is quite an accomplishment!! Kudos to CC, staff and players!!! Well done!!
2) Very nice to close out the game with running the ball and setting up in the victory formation. Howie makes a significant difference in the OL performance. Samson Evan’s is a stud! It would be great to establish a running game that could garner 175 yards + per game. This would propel us into next season.
3) Smith should remain the starter for the remainder of the season and Cam Ron McCoy should be his backup. Let’s see what Cam can do!!
4) The defense is the weak link of the team so moving forward we need to concentrate on building our numbers with quality DTs, DRs and LBs. My frustration a couple of seasons ago we had 25 safeties/corners on the roster. Lately our recruiting seems to be more balanced by getting more defensive front into the program.
5) With that said so glad our last two classes have some quality DL.

I am so glad that we won but KSU will be very very difficult!

Finally, I suggest no corny themes such as “stack ‘em” season after season.

Agreed, but good luck. That is the trait that CC is known for — gimmicks. Whether it’s a slogan, a gray field, metallic uniforms, a factory analogy, a miniature wall, whatever, that’s how he has tried to establish an identity for this program.

I’d prefer to establish an identity via play on the field, but that’s just me. What is Toledo know for? Explosive offenses. Did they get that identity through gimmicky marketing or through their play on the field?

All we market is blandness, which just so happens to match the product on the field. LOL.

RE: Game Week: @Akron
I forgot to add that at the beginning of the season I predicted we would NOT be the MAC champions. I’m not patting myself on the back but merely pointing out there’s No-Way we’re winning the MAC with RF defensive linemen (Carter Evans,Peyton Price, Melvin Swindle) with injuries to Alex Merritt and Mikey Haney. Not giving Neathery an excuse but this DL was too inexperienced and too many injuries.

BTW, where are Adrian Gonzalez and Sterling Miles? Have they been in rotation?
