Friday night games, noncon schedules, and ABC?
When the TV package with ESPN expands starting next year, do we anticipate some Friday games?

Separately, with us getting more games on TV overall, do we expect us to get a [continued] uptick in the quality of nonvonference opponents we play at home? One would think teams might be more willing to play at an SBC school if they know they'll get on ESPNU over ESPN+; ESPN2 over U; ESPN over 2; or, if all the cards fall right. ABC over ESPN. In general, they'll be more likely to sign an agreement if they get on TV, period.

Lastly, speaking of ABC, can we start getting games on ABC? With the AAC's new downgraded lineup, they're still going to get guaranteed games on ABC. Why on earth can't shouldn't we get that, given our performance? And does the new contract guarantee any ABC games?

I don't know the answers to your questions but I do anticipate a big SB matchup or two will make it on ABC with the new contract. I'd be interested to see how many viewers we got Thursday night on ESPN2. We haven't been on linear tv for so long that many people probably forgot about USM but we used to get great ratings before Facebook and gas stations were our viewership.

Can someone point me to SBC tv ratings? To be clear I mean for conference games.

We're not going to get a game on ABC. Not a league game at least. I can envision scenarios where a top SBC team got a Network game against a high level P5, but not a scenario where some regular season league game ends up there.

League viewership is not near the level for that sort of interest yet.

AAC is still doing better

2 of those 3 games involved teams leaving after this year and the other involved BYU.

Kind of surprised at USF vs Houston. All jokes aside, those 2 are in enormous markets compared to Lafayette and Hattiesburg and they finished behind if I'm reading that right.

To get on ABC we need either:

1. Team that is hot hosting a P5 or AAC.
2. The good fortune of someone coming off a gaudy over an apparently good P5 facing a Sun Belt team in similar circumstances or with a really good record

Not absolutely required but extremely helpful, one or more of the other OTA networks have a blockbuster game in the slot. Maybe Red River Shootout on Fox, Notre Dame hosting USC on NBC, the folks at ABC are likely to say let's slot a Sun Belt here.

The other path is to ring it up one season with 10+ wins, look like you can do it again and ESPN slates you for Black Friday against someone in conference who did well and looks like a contender pre-season. Then you sit back waiting to find out if you get the 11am Central or 2;30 Central slot and whether or not it is ESPN/ESPN2 or ABC

Those lists show me that ESPNU and FS2 have far less viewership than the major players. Put the SB on regular ESPN or a major network and the numbers will be higher. Of course you could say that about any teams. Looks to me like the Belt does just as good or better than the AAC when comparing viewership on the same outlets.

Yeah, I'm actually surprised at how little those tables make it look like there's a gap between viewership for the SBC and AAC.
