Question XCountry
First time I can recall we didn’t capture either men’s or women’s CAA Championships.

Congrats to Stony Brook who won their 1st ever CAA title taking the men’s championship. Tribe finished 3rd. On the women’s side, Elon won the title.

I know that the men's team was never cut, but the announcement that it would be eliminated and the subsequent uncertainty prior to reinstatement might have hurt recruiting and retention of athletes.

I could some f those 7 teams basically missing a recruiting class. Did all the coaches stay?

Same thing could be said with our sudden drop in swimming results this year. Undoubtedly would hurt recruiting the last 2 years and maybe for the next several.

It happened just two years ago -- in the infamous year where W&M did not win a single CAA conference championship in any sport (for the first time ever). However, since before this year the men had won 21 out of the previous 22 years, and because two years ago was eminently forgettable what with Covid and the Tribe7, it is totally understandable that you would have blanked it out of your memory.

Reinstating the sports simply put off the inevitable. Without proper funding they will all die on the vine until they are cut or a big donor shows up. Parents aren't going to keep putting up money to pay for their kids to play college athletics here. And we aren't a littel bit short funding wise. It is a gaping chasm.

Hmm, cutting football would definitely save a ton of money and immediately fix all Title IX issues. (Wait, did I just say that out loud?). Just kidding, although it is definitely a true statement. You get my drift. There are a lot of ways to move money around. It is not XC's fault, or Gymnastics' fault, or Tennis' fault that the Athletic Department is so much in the hole. In fact, remember how much of Shaver's payout could be used for these programs instead. What about all those consultants' fees? The AD needs to get creative and come up with the money. Cutting those sports is not the answer.
