Quote:Strong Metro Classic showing for St Rose’s Matthew Hodge. The Belgian import has put together a highly impressive first season stateside. 6-8 2024 full of versatility. Switchable, generates mismatches & potent playing out of DHO's. High feel, competitive & impacts winning in so many ways. Matthew and his brother, 2026 guard Jayden, burst onto the scene at Northeast Preview and have starred for St. Rose all winter long.

Max Feldman tweeted earlier today that VT offered Matthew.

Getting back on topic......the Hodge brothers continue to play well. Their team has only 2 losses thus far and one of them was to a "power" team with a UNC commit and a Duke commit. Otherwise, they are cruising through a fairly easy schedule.

Can we move all these useless head coach posts off this thread to the fire JJ thread? Tiresome that every thread gets hijacked.

If anyone wants to see the Hodge brothers play tonight, here is a link to a link to a live stream. Not sure if it will work but worth a try for those that are curious.

Click on the "Watch Live" link for the St. Rose game at 7:00 pm. This is a State Sectional Semi-Final game.

The Hodge brothers won the State Sectional championship game last night. They play the No. 1 team in NJ (who they lost to during the regular season) on Friday. That team has a Duke, UNC, and Arizona St. commit on their team.

Article says Matt Hodge has offers from VT, ODU, St. Louis, and Maryland.

I believe I read that he has coached or is currently doing some coaching in Belgium. Don't know what level it was though.

He would be a great coach/recruiter for ODU. He knows Europe basketball .

Absolutely. However, I know there are some hoops that schools have to jump through with compliance to allow the hire of a parent of a potential recruit. Stith worked out because both of his kids were already at another school (past high school). Now I'm not sure what the rules currently are with the changing of the transfer portal and what not.

Interesting. You'd think they'd have a waiver for a guy to coach at his alma mater or something. I have no idea if the big O is a good coach, but it would be darn nice to have him around campus again. My favorite of all time.

The big O must have had a hand in the development of his sons. They seem to be doing pretty well.

Well genetics don't hurt either.

RE: Matthew ('24) and Jayden ('26) Hodge Recruiting
Finally - my input may be worth something here.

I go to a high school in St. Rose’s conference, and having connections, I can tell you those kids are the talk of the county. Definitely expected this when I heard they were transferring in from overseas, but the attention’s been on them and they haven’t disappointed. Matt has put up almost 15 points per game, and although sometimes inconsistent, the stats indicate he performs his best in high-leverage games and under pressure.

I had the chance to see them play in a massive division game against eventual state champion Manasquan. Unfortunately, I didn’t see much from either of them, as they combined for 11 points. They’re versatile, though. Explosive on offense, and in that game, they made up for their lack of scoring on the defensive end. The Roses held quite possibly the best offense in the conference to 41 points, and the Hodges were a big part of that.

Just wanted to offer my input as I saw this thread and it instantly resonated with me.

Thanks for sharing your insight with us. We're all hopeful that they will both end up at ODU.
