A total of 3 assistant coaches who are allowed to coach & recruit (which has been the case for 10+years). The 2 "additional coaches" can provide coaching but not allowed to recruit (as per the NCAA definition). You will most likely see them titled something other than "assistant coach," like "director of operations" etc. The "new" rule update allows up to 2 of these other positions to actively coach the team.
He would be a developmental coach, that works with players, in practice. That is what I am talking about. He is only a high school coach, but a lot would depend on if Odell is hired.
Odell is hired
Correct, but to say he would only be a "high school coach" would underestimate his outreach on the overall program.
He was very good high school basketball coach. He coached both Hodge boys and were on highly rated teams. We have two assistant coach’s now, who have never coached or been outside of ODU. All it means if Odell is hired like you side and what MJ wants. I never said he would be an recruiting coach, but yes with his experience as a head coach he could be an development coach in practice.
Why do you make things up?

I am not making that up. There wear two assistants that mainly worked with individual players, at ODU. All of their experience was done at ODU. They may not have been recruiting assistants, but where assistants. Check last year’s coaching directory, and you will see I didn’t make this up. You will see Brooks and the other coach did the recruiting, along with Jones. If you mean Odell coached high school, I misspoke. I really don’t know what Odell did overseas, I thought you were taking about two of last year’s assistants, who have never coached high school.

When I said he was a very good high school coach, I was speaking of Brian, the hodge boys coach at their high school. On a thread earlier, I quoted from Facebook where Brian was Odell’s roommate overseas and now not only coached both Hodge boys, but he and his wife had the Hodge boys lived with them. Somehow, that posted was not closely read as everyone zero in on my last comment about a player coach, watched I have corrected as not being right.

There were 3 assistant coaches at ODU last season. Yes, Chris Kovensky only had assistant coaching experience at ODU, but the other 2 had "outside ODU" coaching experience. The other 2 were Jamal Robinson & Jordan Brooks. Jamal Robinson was also an assistant at Hampton & LaSalle. Jordan Brooks was an assistant at Howard & Xavier. For the other positions on a basketball staff, every program has the ability to structure which positions do what responsibilities (outside of physical recruiting travel) as they see fit.
