Renewing with Flo
There is word on the Seahawk discord channel supported by Brant, publisher of the Seahawk Perch newsletter, that the CAA and its presidents are leaning towards renewing with Flo

If there is anyone that has the ear of anyone in position of influence please let them know crappy and detrimental this would be. I personally am not doing another Flo deal. I'm done if this goes down

Discord is an app by Seahawk Perch that allows you to discuss anything UNCW.

RE: Renewing with Flo
This is just what I have campaigned against. I told people that by giving in last season and purchasing Flo packages would encourage the CAA's inept leadership to stick with them. I will never contribute to a deal that hurts our athletics. As much as I may want to watch certain games, especially UNCW, FloSports will not get a dime from me.

Hmmm, I wonder if this is why Delaware is starting to lean towards FBS, and might be eyeing the Sun Belt Conference with an ESPN package tv rights? Flo Sports don't reach many households across the nation.

RE: Renewing with Flo
How could this be... everyone said it would NEVER happen.

How shocking that this conference leadership doesn't actually give a crap about the fan bases. It has been, is, and always will be driven by football centric decisions.

UNCW thinking this conference will have our best interest in mind is living with our heads in the sand.

What a disaster.

I accessed it last year thru the CAA website - it cost around $10 a month if I remember correctly. I only do it because I can't get to the games as easily as I once could/did.
All said, I'm not crazy a out Flo Sports but at least I can see the Hawks play I instead of listening or using live stats.

RE: Renewing with Flo
And thus why what fans want vs what the AD's/school want, dont mesh and why Flo will inevitably get renewed. His stance is not the only one in the league that believes that. Basically the league likes not having to upgrade production or incur any costs while they have the option to pocket the money or spend it to televise locally. It is the viewpoint of a casual league that is happy to not grow or expand and status quo is acceptable.

I do not do twitter so i can not read it. The caa wants the money from flo and does not care what the fans or donors. That is what i got from talking to uncw admin. I spoke to the head of caa 2 years ago and he said fans liked flo sports.

RE: Renewing with Flo
I don't have an issue with FloSports like many do. The money that flows in equates to the money that would come in if we had two teams in the NCAA tournament each year. The production level has improved every year and is very good this year. CAAsports.com was practically invisible and offered free content but the quality was awful and brought in no revenue to the conference or schools.

The Big South, SoCon and A10 all have ESPN deals and I can't see that it has elevated their conferences to the point we can't compete for recruits. In fact, the CAA is ranked ahead of the SoCon and Big South and the A10 is looking like a 1 bid league as well. The CBSSN exposure is pretty substantial and a lot of CAA teams ended up on ESPN OOC anyhow.

I've had FLO since the beginning and it's well worth the cost to catch as many UNCW games as I do and games around the conference in all sports. I'm watching NU and A&T now, and have been watching some of the CofC game and the the Hofstra game on CBSSN. Overall, i'm happy with my ability to watch what I am interested in.

How happy are you with the lack of national exposure and the hit it puts on recruiting around the conference?

I'm accepting the inevitable at this point.

If we would put games on TV it would be more palatable. But we don't so only hard-core supporters will see this team.
