RE: CAA Attendance
I added stadium capacity (per Google) then sorted by Pct of Capacity.

AVG Attendance / Capacity / PCT

UNH…..10,535…..11,015…..96%
DEL…..17,372…..18,500…..94%
ALB…..7,166…..8,500…..84%
WM…..10,629…..12,672…..84%
UR…..7,279…..8,700…..84%
URI…..5,036…..6,555…..77%
MAINE…..6,235…..8,419…..74%
VILL…..9,051…..12,500…..72%
TOW…..7,646…..11,198…..68%
ELON…..7,649…..11,250…..68%
MON…..2,635…..4,200…..63%
SB…..5,341…..12,300…..43%
HAMP…..4,829…..12,000…..40%

Hampton is surprisingly low. Delaware is impressive and not surprising…but does Zable/Cary feel 85% full to you? I know they’re counting tickets sold, but other than Homecoming that number seems high.

I guess you need to consider the beer tent in end zone. Elon was the other game we had with high ticket sales and I think most I read on here indicated the west side was quite full. I don’t doubt the ticket sales at W&M. My experience over the years, people like to wander in Zable.

The most deceiving of all is UNH. Their attendance is always pushed high by their homecoming game. I believe one year they reported near 20,000. Apparently it’s a tradition to party in the open parking fields there - the parking ticket includes a game pass but I don’t believe a seat. Half the attendees never leave the parking fields. That’s what I’ve read anyway.

Hampton has never had a big fan base. Norfolk State, on the other hand draws better than us traditionally.

Does Monmouth have any expansion plans anytime soon? 4200 seats just seems absurdly low.

Between them and future CAA member in Campbell, they have a total of 9700 seats.

I said it when the Campbell news was announced, that move made no sense academically, and their non HC crowd numbers are not good.

For what it’s worth, The beer garden was shut down at the Delaware game because so many people had entered it that it was deemed a fire hazard.

Quote:THANK YOU to all the fans who supported us at Zable Stadium this season ️ HIGHEST average attendance since 2016 and the second best in the last decade!!

Good to see this heading in the right direction. It will take time for casual fans to get used to the idea of Tribe football being good again, so hopefully the program carries the momentum forward and we’ll see attendance bump up again in 2023.

I’d like to see us revisit the “beer garden” experiment going forward. It’s obviously popular. One reason attendance looks more sparse than it really is, is because there are 500-1000 fans milling around the south endzone drinking beer throughout the game. Something like the terraced zone at Kaplan would be appropriate here, tripping hazard be damned. At the mezzanine level you could have some high-topped tables with barstool chairs and you could sell GA tickets for people who want to camp there for the whole game. You could continue to allow the groundlings who insist on clinging to the endzone fencing and high-fiving our players after touchdowns 04-cheers

We could have a lively filled-in seating area with half-decent sight-lines, generating positive energy and gameday atmosphere, kinda like the good ol days with the North endzone bleacher crew.

How about beer/wine in both end zones :>)

It's always struck me as odd that the official capacity of Zable/Cary back in the 70's was 15,000 (which was occasionally exceeded), while now, even with the big addition, it's only 12,672.

I realize that the seating in the end zones has been reduced a lot, but even so I think we're spreading that 12,672 over more real estate than we used to spread the 15,000. Even at "capacity" people might still look sort of spaced out.

Maybe it has to do with the calculation of how wide the average American backside is today vs. then? Or just trying to keep the city happy with an artificially low number?

The end zone seating in the 70s and 80s were huge, probably half the actual seating back then. They are now totally gone.

Also the changes made the last 20 years to comply with ADA cut seats as well. That happened everywhere. I think Delaware Stadium lost near 3,000 seats as result.

Per Herosports.com, W&M was 21st out of 132 FCS schools in attendance in 2022. Jackson St. was the overwhelmingly #1 with 42,209 in home attendance per game.

Delaware ranked 8th just behind NDSU
