I was at both of those games. Best BBQ down in Lockhart!
Here in Texas, you can find Great BBQ pretty much everywhere . . . .
Austin, San Marvelous, Elgin, Luling, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Round Rock . .
Pick your town and Have at it . . . Just bring your appetite, your money, and you’re Golden.
Not bad German (baurenbrot, sausages) and Tex Mex food either (served with Shiner Bock of course)..
By the by, when Miss. Southern became uSm, we also became a "major college" in all sports (later to be called Div. 1)....Miss. Southern (known as the "Southerners" until mid 70's) had just won 2 "small college" National Championships, which was a misnomer, since we were playing Alabama, Georgia, NC State, FSU, Memphis and other "major colleges" back then.
On a side note, when Miss. Southern beat #1 Alabama in mid 50's, a famous headline proclaimed we were the "darlin's of Dixie", and the name for our dance team was born---->the Dixie 'darlin's.
Lastly, MSC applied for ACC membership in the late 50's, but either segregationist policies or academics (or both) derailed that plan.

So I take it Mississippi has better Tex-Mex?
Congrats for inferring any cogent point in all that rambling.
But no, we don’t. We got you in fried catfish though.

I’ll give y’all the Catfish. But I know a place in New Braunfels that might give you a run for your money . . . If you come down, try Clear Springs Catfish Restaurant (off Hwy 46), and do some onion rings . . . The Shiner you already got covered.

To me "not bad" implies something along the lines of "its okay, but I've had better elsewhere". They can keep their catfish though.

It’s all relative . . as far as German Food goes, I’ve yet to taste anything in the States that rivals the Real thing in Germany.
Prost

Yeah I was moreso referring to the Tex-Mex part. I'm sure there are some amazing Tex-Mex places outside of Texas but I'd bet they're pretty hard to find.
If USM doesn't win they're going to have a tough time taking 2/3 from ULL/CCU/USA to hit bowl eligibility. Whereas if TXST wins they just need to beat ULM and Arky St to hit eligibility. This game is a pretty important turning point for both teams.

This game is important to both programs.. Quite honestly, I've said as long as we win more than last season I'd be pleased.. Going to a bowl would be a bonus. But right now we're already tied with wins from last season..
We've been close on one game (Liberty) and that could've been a win had a couple other things went our way but it didn't so can't dwell on it.
I want to win every game.. But this game, we were scheduled as the Bobcats' homecoming, which is normally a game that you think you'll win.. So I want USM to go in and lay waste to San Marcos... No offense (not referring to USM's in this instance).

Well now, didn’t that lil’ ‘ol school you attended in Mississippi teach you to keep an open mind?
Seriously, I spent a week at the then-Southwest Texas St. campus in the summer of '99 and was miserable from the time we entered town until my sinuses started clearing up a couple miles down the I-35 on our way out. It's like my body was literally rejecting the place.
Mutant allergens, waking up with everything not in a closet or drawer damp from the pervasive morning fog? Yeah, no thanks. And then topping it off with somehow having to walk uphill both to and from the same place in defiance of all laws of topography and physics.
Loved the trip otherwise and the surrounding area. All my woes were weirdly San Marcos-specific. My only guess is it had something to do with the elevation, as most of the surrounding towns are situated in the "valleys" and not built on top of the dadgum hill.

I'm not really sure that whole "HOMECOMING GAME "Scheduling stuff holds any water today. In the past yes, but today it hard to get a pasty in the middle of the season and the conference puts the schedule together.
