Half of Troy’s stadium looked empty. We all know there is a big difference between attendance and tickets sold.

We had a lot of people who stayed in the tailgate areas watching UT/Bama. There was a big crowd on campus and many never went in the game.

RE: Attendance Week of 10/15
I think our conference growing in perception, and winning against OOC competition has us heading in the right direction.

We def need to work on a few things though in the next 5-10 years.
-Budgets
-Ave attendance/growing fan bases
-facilities
-TV Contract/linear exposure
-Bowls
-CFP rep
-being vigilant about being ready to grab the strong schools we want when the time is right.
I think winning and regional Rivalries will help most of these things fall in place. But it's going to take administrative work on some things, and making sure growing fan bases are reflected in growing support. Administration (both conference and university level) needs to be strategic.

Maybe stadiums should have area were folks can few the other games? That could be alot of fun for folks. I know the Charlotte Motor Speedway shows the Indy 500 on the megatron for the folks in the infield before the World 600.

You can watch other games at ODU in the different club areas and beer garden, etc. I'm sure most Belt stadiums have similar set-ups.

MSU is adding a Tailgating section to the inside of the stadium. Grill your own burgers, watch your own TV and drink you own drinks. I'm sure it'll be fun, but expensive areas. We do that for Baseball already.

Coastal had a great kickoff crowd that somehow did not stay for the remainder of the game. Must have some professional, no-beaks barred, ****-fighting event in Georgetown that made people leave early.

Troy actually had a good crowd by halftime. The home side had a good amount of people.

23K seemed about right

We generally get a legit 26K for homecoming games... but with #3 Alabama vs. #6 Tennessee on at the same time, that's a hard draw, no matter if you're Troy, UAB, or USA.

From my view of the homeside, by midway of the 2nd quarter, the homeside was pretty filled in (minus the upper corners). Endzone had a really good crowd, and the student section appeared mostly full (midway through the 2nd quarted). The visitor section (NE side of the stadium) was empty, but that is not a knock on TX St, that is a long friking trip. If Alabama wasnt playing, we could've possibly had a record crowd.

I know when Marshall played Troy, many of us questioned the attendance number. However, the cameras only showed one side and some of our fans who made the trip said they had a pretty good crowd.

What I have noticed between CUSA and Sun Belt, is they both report more than actually show up. However, in the SBC there is a core group that shows up and are loud.
In CUSA, it was usually a mausoleum.

Our club seating and suites all have TVs with other games on.

You're correct. The stands looked pathetic. And it was our Homecoming on a day with fantastic weather. Just goes to show you how hard it hits us when Bama or Auburn have a big game that's happening at the same time as our game. Everyone was somewhere watching the Bama/Tennessee game.

When the game started, I was a bit underwhelmed by the crowd, but later on it looked close to 23K. The home side and the end zone was nearly full and half of the "away" side had good attendance. The far side of the away side was still empty, but the crowd overall was not bad.

I was picking up my daughter and son-in-law at the airport that evening. Virtually every male adult, and at least half the females, were crowded around the bar area watching that game on the big screen t.v.’s. Travelers were coming through the gates looking around for their families who were supposed to be there to greet them.

It was sorta funny. And well worth the scolding I got from my wife.

I wish I could say the Cajuns have this but we don’t. Back when I was in college, there was an old scoreboard that would at least show scores. After they took that down, we seemed to always have our PA announcer at least mention other games of interest and conference games, but not one peep this year. In fact, they open up Tigue Moore Field (baseball stadium) before the gates to the football stadium are opened. In there there are several TVs and the scoreboard in left field - not even turned on. It’s really a shame. There’s even several concession stands, but only one is opened with 2 lines of 40 people deep waiting to purchase beer. It’s like they go out of their way to keep fan interest levels down and not collect revenue.
