#7 NU took on #15 Providence at Matthews Arena and lost 2-1. NU is now 3-1 on the season.

Gunnarwolfe Fontaine scored NU’s only goal in the 2nd period to cut the deficit to 2-1. Devon Levi made 49 saves, which is absolutely ridiculous to face against any Providence team. The defense in front of him must tighten up, although Keefe didn’t think the quality of shots weren’t a concern to him.

NU is back on the ice as they host the BC on Tuesday, Oct. 18. The game is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

RE: Providence
#20 NU was back on the ice in between Beanpot games, made the trip down the turnpike to visit Providence. And NU wiped out a 3-0 deficit to win this one in a shootout.

Down 3-0 in the 3rd a 5-minute major penalty on then Friars saw Matt Chopani get NU on the board. Then Aiden McDonough and Choupani again tied it at 3-3.

Both teams went scoreless in OT, then McDonough scored the only goal in the shootout for the extra point. NU is now in 2nd place in Hockey East and just 1 point behind the Rat Dogs.

NU takes on Harvard Monday night for the Beanpot championship at the Garden at 7:30.

RE: Providence
I forgot the men were playing but when I saw the recap I watched the end of the third period and OT on ESPN. What could have been a damaging loss turned into a confidence builder. GREAT OT goal by McDonough!

Late game heroics for the ladies, too......a very late goal to tie the game up followed by a quick win in three on three.
