EMU offense had to clue how to handle NIU's blitzes, etc. Have to be able to scheme against that.
I agree we miss Howie.
The O-line looked bad, game plan was bad, lack of blitz scheme bad.
This was an embarrassing loss
Maybe this explains why we have offered four JUCO OL this past month.

We essentially have the same offensive line which is performing poorly compared to last year. Is the change due to a different strength and conditioning technique?

That it's a DUMP that the athletic department completely ignores. It's an embarrassment and they should be ashamed. Weatherbee is a joke for letting it go to total trash. Bathrooms are in complete neglect, complete lack of adequate concession stands and nothing on the visitor side. I now know why he won't schedule anyone decent OOC because the fans that would actually show up would complain.
Anyone disagree?

It intentionally was a pick'em which was far more confusing, but vegas knows the MAC. The best MAC team could lose to Akron, any day of the week. They also know the same thing as me, when the defense has a stellar performance one week, they are totally lackluster and useless the next. I do expect to win this game but not because of the defense, the offense will be the deciding factor.
NIU hasnt beaten an FBS team yet - but they played at Tulsa, Vandy, and at Kentucky close. They lost at Ball State in OT. They arent bums.
hey dansplaining - looks like you got another one right

I couldn’t agree more.
The visitors side was shockingly defunct when I visited for homecoming. They can’t put one worker over there to run concessions? They make everyone on that side go across the stadium? Complete bush league, all the way around. What a joke. They don’t deserve more than 1000 fans. Ever. And I won’t even get into details about the bathrooms.
The visitors side should be condemned. I’m not kidding. I should complain to Washtenaw County.
Thank goodness for the grey turf and the Spinal Tap “factory” wall! Thanks Creighton/Weatherbee!!!! This is what you get when the two guys in charge spend much of their time looking for other jobs.

A few people on our board said EMU players were doing a lot of hitting after the whistle. I didn't notice it myself, and also wondered what that was all about at the end of the game. But it might have been about that. Hammock, despite the win, probably under some pressure this year as we are still only 2-5 and he's made some fairly bonehead calls so far this year that didn't help in our close losses.

007, I attended the game and did not see us hitting much after the whistle or for that matter before the whistle either. We just plain got our ass kicked!
What I did see was Hammock at halftime leading his team in a very animated way through their drills. He wanted this game and showed it.

Part of the sacks seemed to be Powells fault. He was either holding the ball too long or diving to the turf as soon as there was pressure. Maybe he's a little skittish after the ASU injury.

Dear WoodenNickle,
I agree with your assessment of Powell. That's why I would have put in a different quarterback at the start of the fourth quarter. Other then his touchdown pass at the very beginning of the game, he was terrible.

Hurried throws don't count as sacks. Also our offensive line has not generated a solid running game consistently this year.

I don't think JUCOs are the answer. Then again we got a transfer in from Colorado who can't seem to start here.

He might not be eligible. I think Creighton made reference to this at some point during the preseason.

At last check, Lee was not cleared by the NCAA for this season.
