It's like they bring their Bugatti to race our Camaros and Mustangs. Go buy yourself a Natty. Oh wait... you only know how to ask for money and not give it. Anyway, all kidding aside, God Bless you and yours.

I'm kind of with you. Only reason Liberty fans want the Sun Belt is all our local rivals are there (Coastal, App. State, JMU, ODU, Marshall). But the fact is the Sun Belt has shied away from private universities, where the AAC has not. They have four - Tulsa, Tulane, Rice, and SMU. Neither has the ACC, as they have Duke and Wake Forest. I support improving our academics a bit and trying to get into the AAC, where Charlotte, Navy, and East Carolina would be local rivals. AAC seems like more of a stepping stone to moving up to P5 in a decade or two.

I like Liberty and wish to have seen them in the conference but it is what it is. My biggest issue was Jerry Falwell Jr and how he acted. I believe Liberty is in a better place, or heading to one, but the time is too late to join the SBC.

The funny thing is, I don't think that is why they didn't get in the Sun Belt, not the first time when Falwell tried to bribe his way in, but the 2nd time, during realignment. It was because of geography and some of the lower, particularly western teams, not wanting a private university. I believe the Coastal's and App. State were for Liberty getting in.

Liberty University broke safety laws for years, government asserts
In preliminary findings, the Education Department says the Christian school underreported crimes and destroyed evidence. Administrators can appeal.

"Liberty failed to warn the campus community about gas leaks, bomb threats and people credibly accused of repeated acts of sexual violence — including a senior administrator and an athlete — according to the report, a copy of which was obtained by The Washington Post. Two people familiar with the conclusions, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the confidential nature of the document, confirmed the findings.

The draft also contends officials at Liberty destroyed evidence after a government inquiry began."

I can one up that article:

Last week, Fox News reported that Liberty is facing the possibility of an “unprecedented” $37.5 million fine from the U.S. Department of Education. The department has been investigating violations of the Clery Act, a federal statute that requires federally funded colleges and universities to publicly report data about campus crime. To put that number into perspective, consider that Michigan State University paid $4.5 million for its own “systemic failure” to respond to the infamous Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal, in which Nassar was convicted of sexually abusing dozens of women in his care. While Liberty’s fine is not yet set, the contents of a leaked Education Department report — first reported by Susan Svrluga in The Washington Post — leave little doubt as to why it may be this large.

When you're looking at almost TEN TIMES the fine MSU got for Nassar, you've done goofed on a scale that you have to stand back in awe over.
