No. No. He won't be there for EMU. 03-lmfao

As I've suggested before, posters here seem to be in love with Grand Valley, Ferris, etc.

Guess it goes back to the CMU struck gold with Brian Kelly, so...

Why are you making fun of posters who love Annese when Western is contacting him? Maybe we’re not all dummies after all?

I as well think Annese woukd be a good FBS coach. He runs a tight ship and is very successful.

Here's a thought...for those of you that think Annese wouldn't work because he coaches Division 2 and that he couldn't make the next step.......CC coached where before EMU?

C..C. was 41 - 22 at FCS Drake. He moved from Wabash to Drake to EMU. He was not a D-iI hire.

I don't put much stock in the D2 to D1 concerns. The players are the same age and the field is still 100 yds long. A good coach is a good coach. The only knock on Annese is that he's 61 years old.

Agree. Age is the big concern. 61 is late to be making a big move.

let me put it this way - there are certain things you can get away with at Div II that you cant exactly get away with at Div I. Theres an unscrupulousness of him that may not be sustainable with brighter lights on him if you catch my drift.

Dear dansplaining,
I heard similar comments about Annese when he was coaching in Rochester Hills. A Leopard doesn't change his spots.

you guys think Ole Miss cared about Lane Kiffins baggage? unless this guy is a straight up demon, you go for someone who can get you wins. wins= increased enrollment, better facilities, fan involvement, etc.

Ole Miss and Auburn are a lot less impervious to criticism than WMU or EMU is

Dear steve4840,
Baggage can mean all kinds of things. Drugs, illegal recruiting, illegal practices, illegal payments, lying about everything. This last point is what got McElwain fired at Florida, when he was their coach.
It's a slippery slope, and many schools will not abide with accepting someone who's character leaves something to be desired. Personally, I don't think using Kiffin at Mississippi is a good example when one looks at education in Mississippi overall. Not highly thought of.
One last point. If, someone cheats and is caught, the penalties can destroy the very things you site as positives.

Ken, I agree with most of what you are saying. My point is that if the guy is a demon then don't hire him I'm fine with that. I will say that quite a few of the most successful college football coached out there have some sort of baggage. it's not to say a holy roller can't do well, but thats not the norm. I love CC but if he were to leave and their was a 'bounce back' type coach who had some baggage i.e. Hugh Freeze that I know woukd get us to the top and really jump us the way he did Liberty than I would be fine with it. So long as he is playing by the rules at EMU and the players are treated with respect.

RE: Coaching Carousel Thread 2022
Here's what the athletic and chris vannini says about WMU and EMU:
What the hell is WMU doing? Also, why doesn’t Chris Creighton get more traction for job openings? I’m not complaining. As an EMU fan I want to build a statue of the guy. But still? — Dan T.

I know some folks were surprised by Western Michigan firing Tim Lester, but I wasn’t. Lester did a perfectly fine job, with just one losing season and three bowl games. But he didn’t get to the MAC championship game and let the division slip away late in the season several times. It’s understandable that athletic director Dan Bartholomae has higher expectations, given that WMU is one of the better-resourced teams in the MAC. Since WMU last made the MAC title game in 2016, nine other MAC schools have reached the game. It’s on Bartholomae to find a better coach and reach those higher expectations now. The search right now is focused on some coordinators, but Michigan assistants like Sherrone Moore, Jay Harbaugh and Mike Hart could get in the mix.

What holds Creighton back, fairly or not, is that his overall record at EMU is 45-61, and he hadn’t won more than seven games with the Eagles until an 8-4 season this year. Now, I understand the context to all this, especially as someone who grew up in southeast Michigan. The program was probably the worst in the FBS when he arrived, and the eight wins this year are the program’s most since 1987. To bring consistent winning to this place is incredible. But those top-line numbers can be a hard sell to boosters and administrators. A coach needs a big season that pops. His best shot at a bigger job is probably one that needs a real rebuild.

Not a lot of guys getting hired OUT of other jobs.

At this time of year the guys who would be hired away are typically prepping for conference championship games and/or bowl games, so you don't generally see much hapening with them until thier seasons are officially over.
