If we win out and get to 8 wins, I would be thrilled and be excited about our bowl game. If we win 7, my joy diminishes. If we win 6, I hope we stay home.

CMU and WMU played two payday games against P5 opponents while we played just one and yes, I agree with our scheduling, it allows us another much-needed home game. It also, however, gives a much better chance at a "W" but no $$$$. A 6-6 record with two payday games is somewhat appealing, with just one, it is not.

I'm amazed that EMU gave Creighton an automatic year extension for simply making a bowl game, given the Murphy experience of 20 wins for such. When half of the FBS goes to bowl games and the basketball coach can load his schedule with D2 and D3 opponents, are we truly rewarding exceptional performance?

I really hope we win out with 3-0

2-1 to get to 7-5 is what I predicted and I'd be ok with that. I don't love it, but given our lack of good coaching schemes and play calling, that is about right.

1-2 to get to 6-6 is an embrassment given the talent we have.

Remember that we get a chunk of $$$$ for a bowl game and I'm pretty certain the better the bowl game, the more money.

Hopefully we win out but I'm thinking it's 2-1 to get to 7-5

I remember predicting 5-7 with all the question marks on special teams, a defense that hadn't improved all that much and questions at QB.

Fortunately, we'll far exceed that record. 02-13-banana

Southern Miss vs. Miami-Ohio in the QL Bowl...I just can't imagine that will get many butts in the seats. They could probably close off one side of Ford Field and would only have to pay half their staff that day.

There's a good chance that CMU and WMU do not go bowling. The QL bowl may want Tol, BG, or EMU just because it sells more tickets.

RE: 2022 MAC Bowl Picture
Well this week's MAC games are over. I think we got some help in terms of our bowl prospects; NIU is out, WMU and Kent join CMU with needing one more loss to be out.

Bowl eligible
Toledo (6-3)
Ohio (6-3)

Need one more wins
Buffalo
Eastern Michigan
Bowling Green
Ball State

Need two more wins
Miami

Need three more wins
Kent State
Western Michigan
Central Michigan

Eliminated
Akron
Northern Illinois

Next week everyone is in action mid-week:

Tuesday
Akron@EMU:....Obviously

Ohio@Miami: I say we want Ohio. They are already bowl eligible and loss would put Miami on the brink.

BSU@Toledo: I guess Toledo? They are already in, Ball State will probably get there but they have a somewhat difficult schedule so I guess it's possible they lose the rest of their games.

Wednesday
NIU@WMU: The Huskies are already out, so hopefully they win and take the Broncos out with them.

Buffalo@CMU: Buffalo needs one more win, but looking at their schedule it seems very unlike they don't get at least one more win. So let's root for them to knock out Central.

Kent@BG: I know Bowling Green needs just one more win, but I say we are rooting for them. A BG win would knock Kent State out, meaning Kent State would already be out of the race and not have much to play for when we play them in two weeks (although playing the role of spoiler can something be very motivating as well).

I would loooooove a Quick Lane bowl invite. I was at that game and the atmosphere was great. I wish I would have been to a few bars before. Did they have dedicated EMU bars? I think we had around 25 or 30k for that game if memory serves me correct.

There were plenty of people at Detroit Beer Co before the game. We ate there and it was slow service. Like somebody else said, I think they were overwhelmed by the number of people attending the game.

My two sentence synopsis: Only two teams (TOL and Ohio, both 6 - 3) have better record than EMU. Win 2 of the final 3 and anything can happen, including the Detroit bowl game.

Quicklane Bowl this year is Dec 26 at 2:30pm. Wonder if that'll effect attendance. Wouldn't expect as big of a crowd as 2019.

The novelty of EMU in the bowl wouldnt be there either.

I'm not sure it is an issue because it is a federal holiday.

The novelty of a 2nd QL bowl is another issue.

With MSU's big upset over Illinois, they have a pretty good chance at getting to 6-6. If that happens I think the Quick Lane Bowl is a real possibility for them. If they were to win out and be 7-5 probably not, but 6-6 I think it could happen.

If that happens the QL Bowl people probably wouldn't care too much about having an instate (or Toledo) MAC school school since they would have MSU. However, I think a possible EMU/MSU match up in Detroit is becoming a real possibility.
