Gotta keep momentum rolling, and not trip up against the teams we should beat. We’re favored by roughly 3 TDs, and weather may play a hand in slowing us down.

PS: this will be the 6th straight season an O’Kelly is booming punts in BFS.

Could turn into a ground battle, but thankfully it won't look like this

This will be JMU’s easiest opponent the rest of the year and it is a great time to lean heavy on the RB’s and give TC a game to run less because he isn’t needed nearly as much.

If it rains it favors JMU even more.

Yup- especially since Centeio got injured in the 1st quarter and played through it. Said it effected him for the next 2 or 3 series after it happened. Might be a good game to give Atkins some meaningful minutes and get TD out early. We need Centeio healthy enough that he's confident to take off running when necessary. Atkins has already redshirted, so his playing doesn't really matter towards eligibility. He could use the reps too.

We just need to hang on to the ball this week. This matchup screams emotional letdown. Minimize mistakes, grind it out.

Cignetti not too happy with Tuesday's practice.

I see a letdown, too, but not enough to keep us from mauling the cats.

Coachspeak, I totally expected that from Coach Cigs to pull the reigns back and check the inflated egos at the moment.

Glad that coach is very in the moment and is preaching to the guys that we can lose to any sunbelt team. We don’t need rat traps like App State but have to be focused on each matchup.

As Cignetti said, we made a lot of mistakes in that game. It wasn't like the team played a perfect game. There's still a LOT of improvement that can be made.
I think Cignetti and staff do a good job of keeping the team grounded.

He mentioned TXST playing Baylor close in the first half. Which is true, firsrbhalf it was like 14-7 and rooting for them before they got rung in the 2nd half. Coach seems to the ink they have a good DL and playmaker at CB.

RE: 2022 Family Weekend JMU (3-0) vs Texas State (2-2)
the thing i love seeing on our depth chart each week is:

Offensive Line - 4 Sophomores, 1 Junior.

we could, in theory, get 2 more years with 4 of these guys. that's not a lock, as some of those soph's could even be seniors academically wise right now and either not return to football or hit the grad portal and use their last 2 years of eligibility somewhere else. Always a danger these days.

but potentially, we could get four 3-year starters on the OL. that is ALWAYS a good sign, especially when they peform well.

Anyone else notice Sunbelt on social media and HCCC in that Tuesday presser make a point of using the term "non-autonomy" as opposed to G5? I find it interesting.

He's following Gill's lead, who always frames it like this. Perhaps this is a SBC wide agreement to shift the narrative a bit. The NCAA granted "autonomy" is the only distinction going forward with the new CFP format.

Maybe they should go one step further and press the NCAA for "autonomy" status for the SBC as well. What's good for the goose is good for the gander. Why should some conferences be granted more freedom than others?

JS seems like a solid coach, and I think he may get texas st back on track. I just hope its not until after this game.

They could come in here fired up like we were for App St and play a far better game than we expect.

Clearly, the Natty in Chatty. The turf was the worst I have ever seen, and after we smoked some Griz, I damned near broke my ankle going over that incredibly high brick wall.

Well, if it does, it will have rained so much that the turf came unglued.

Does anyone else think that HCCC sounds like a George Bush impression in that video?

Took the leap over that wall myself. Frankly that's the way a stadium should be built. You could have seats on the bottom row and not worry about players on the sidelines obstructing your view. Didn't I read that the sod was put down only days before our game?
