This tweet is also relevant - our Tight Ends have TDs but not our receivers:

Quote:Not including service academies, Auburn is one of just three FBS teams without a touchdown from its wide receivers (receiving or rushing) so far this season.

The others: UAB and South Florida. Tigers are the only Power 5 team without a touchdown from the wide receiver position.

We get Shrop back this week, so hopefully that will fix that.

There were several plays vs Georgia Southern that were just a bit off that I think would have been caught by Shrop.

Did anyone catch Vincent hint that we haven’t had the opportunity to get the pass game going. As in there are going to be teams we game plan to throw on. Maybe Rice will be that team, if I’m anyone playing us I don’t sit there watching too much passing film because it doesn’t exist. If we came out the gate slinging it would shock everyone

I expect we will throw it more against Rice than we have all season unless we get a big lead early and just running clock. To me it's all about match ups and I think this one dictates it. I think their secondary can be taken advantage of, especially on a hard play action.

They are thin on their OL I saw so maybe our Defense can feast a little, give us more chances to feel like we can open up the book

Rice has some very good receivers and that little RB can get lost in the OL and pop one on you.
I think they are much improved but UAB is a good bit better if play a clean game.

UAB TE have been good on the short passes and have impressed me a lot with their blocking but we haven’t really seen the explosive plays yet from them other than the one play downfield with Daemous vs A&M. This would be a good game to show that because I think rice is going to sell out against the run
