Really nice story on App QB Chase Brice on espn.com
https://www.espn.com/college-football/st...hase-brice

It's a long, in-depth story that covers Brice's ups-and-downs from Clemson to Duke to App State and the past three Saturdays.

App fans and really Sun Belt fans in general will like this story.

This quote stood out to me because it was hilarious:

Quote:The ball returned to earth at the 6, where it tipped into the waiting hands of Christian Horn, who looped toward the sideline and found no one in front of him. He darted into the end zone. Chaos.

"I see him running and I'm like Ricky Bobby," Brice said. "Like, what do I do with my hands?"

RE: Really nice story on App QB Chase Brice on espn.com
Separate thought: I think this story that David Hale went out of his way to write is yet another example of ESPN rewarding the Sun Belt for sticking with them and extending the contract.

GameDay could have gone to Washington last weekend for the Michigan State game or to Oregon for the BYU game. They didn't. There could have been much more minimal praise for the Sun Belt's remarkable September 10th. Instead, ESPN embraces it as the story of the weekend.

Consider C-USA just last year. UTSA was 8-0 or 7-0, and UTEP was 7-1 when they played late in the season. GameDay did not go to that game. Not coincidentally, C-USA had the vast majority of its games on other platforms. I bet GameDay would have been there if C-USA was all-in with ESPN.

And just wait with the Big Ten. GameDay will still go to Columbus/Ann Arbor/State College/Madison because Big Ten schools are too popular to ignore. They'll lose a huge amount of CFB's fans' viewership if they try to cut them out completely. But with the B1G completely leaving ESPN, those visits to B1G campuses will be less frequent. The coverage will go to the bare minimum they can get away with, and the SEC coverage will skyrocket beyond what it is already. Our league will fill in some gaps as well.

When our media payouts are as low as they are, where the difference between what we get from ESPN and the alternatives are small, the SBC has made the wise move by sticking with ESPN. Karl Benson and now Keith Gill deserve tons of credit for the exposure this league is getting.

They are doing more and more on the Sun Belt, and why shouldn’t they…

First the Chadwell transition, now Brice. Let’s keep the exposure rolling.
