It was interesting to see the tables turn the way they did. Based on recent history, we were always the ones making strange or bizarre mistakes that allowed ULL to get back in the game or pull away in a close game. Last night ULL's bad snaps allowed us to turn the tables.

I agree with the other Louisiana posters. Not saying ULMs run defense is not good but we are not a good running team now. 107 yards per game after averaging 194 in 2021, 213 in 2020 and 257 in 2019.

Is it really because “you’re not a good run team”, or are people keying on your run because they don’t respect the QB/pass game?

Legit curious, haven’t watched y’all this year, except small parts last night.

Levi scrambling/throwing kept teams more than honest, maybe missing that? Can’t imagine your OL really took that big a step back unless you lost all 5 starters, they’ve been a dominant group for years. And y’all always seemed to be bringing up the next great RB…

Whatcha think?

They have a pretty good passing game especially if the QB's have time. We didn't get any real pressure on their QB's until midway through the 3rd and even then it was sporadic. Both QB's are pretty accurate. Their OLine is good at setting up and protecting but they are not going to blow you off the ball in the run game.

This was our first test to sort of see where we are at. I don't count Texas and Alabama because of who they are and when we played them (Texas first game and had everyone/Bama after a close win so butt kicking time). Nor do I count Nichols St. We did what we were supposed to do with a FCS team. That being said, I saw a few glimpses with Bama and Texas to think we might be pretty decent against the run. Our pass rush is lacking right now and we are going to have to fix that and do it quickly because there are several teams that will eat us up.

What I noticed about ULL is the confusion of identity. Never have been a fan of the dual QB route. Pick one and roll. It changes your identity midgame or every other series. Must be hell on the OL. You got tall receivers and that gives you an advantage but swapping QBs throws off timing.

I know a bunch of Cajun fans are complaining about special teams miscues. Brother, I feel your pain. Our special teams have been horrendous this year. Can't cover kick offs and punts to save our souls. Thought we had put that behind us last year but a change in coordinator has us reverted back to our old ways. And, I can think back to at least 3 recent ULM/ULL games that the kicking game cost us the win or OT and prevented us from at least one bowl game. Welcome to our world. LOL

The O-line needs a major rebuild. Four starters from last year are gone and the two best backups exited through the portal. The Cajuns have made a living for years with a power running game. They've had great backs going back nearly two decades. But if the Cajuns can't get the running game untracked, they'll continue to have trouble because they can't rely on the QB's to get it done.

We have had the luxury of NFL guys on the OLine and in the backfield the last few years. That is not the case this year and it shows.
Lots of Louisiana fans have wanted the offense to open up the passing game but we will miss relying on the run game to get everything started. We also won lots of games by grinding out long drives in the 3rd and 4th quarters of games the last few years.

question for Cajun fans: Which QB would y'all prefer? Fields put up some decent numbers this game but seems to be rather mediocre in your other games. Wooldridge has a much better completion % but hasn't had the chances that Fields has had. I said before that I hate the dual QBs. Make a choice and roll with it. Let your QB and receivers build some familiarity and allow your OL to settle in and get a feel for the QB. Just would like a take from y'all.

My concern about Fields is that he sails the ball a bit too much. Woolridge, in my opinion, seems to deliver a better ball. But what do I know?

Neither are going to have much success without a run game that can be respected.

I like them both. Coach Des just needs to pick one and stick with him. I have been anti-2 QB system from the start. I don't care that they did that with Levi his first year.

I get why Dez wants them both to get some time but I think the cost is greater than the benefit. Neither will look great until we fix the OLine issues and then the run game.

This is actually pretty funny. I also think the UL(L) shade at the end is funny. If you are a Cajun and don't have a sense of humor I wouldn't watch the Tik Tok.

Gotta love Bowden. We got really lucky with that hire. Players love him too. As for the Cajuns QB, both looked good, but by conference you have to pick one. We have Jiya Wright that probably has more skills the Rogers, but Rogers has more playing time and is more consistent. Bowden refuses to play a two QB system.

Not bothered by it. Let them have their fun. Lord knows they haven't had a chance to celebrate a home win against us since 2004.
