Those four schools aren't the least bit interested in the Sun Belt Conference as of now, but eventually that may change. If they were to join, there is no doubt the SBC would be the strongest. Some say that we already are.

With that said, there isn't any true "take over" happening in the G5 anymore RIP AAC. The honest truth is the AAC has just been hit hard enough from the Big 12 to close the gap to give the SBC and MWC at least a chance at the NY6 bowl without us just taking it easily each year.
It will be a absolute battle each year for each conference to have the best G5 teams in the league and it's going to change year to year.
As far as the media deal though everyone knows the AAC has that in the bag, if the SBC wants to truly compete overall and not just based on wins you guys must get a better deal to showcase your teams.
Go Tigers Go!
I'm not sure any deal that was constructed when UCONN, Houston, UCF, and Cincinnati were still there is "in the bag"...

I think it's possible this is a GMU fan who still has some nostalgia for the old cusa (it once had good basketball) and just chose a very poor username to go posting his thoughts on realignment across all the boards with.
I disagree with some of his realignment ideas and find them humorous, but that alone doesn't make him a troll. His posts on the AAC board are fun too. If he is a troll, he's got a new persona that doesn't quite match CLT or All4 patterns. Change the username, and the posts seem a little more reasonable.

RE: The opportunity is there to take over the AAC
Even though I should know better than to trust a George Mason fan—let me pause here.
For those that don’t know, it’s a SCIENTIFIC FACT that every Mason student lives in their parents’ basement. They invented the concept of the commuter school, and receive seven cents every time someone uses it on the internet. (Do you take Venmo?)
Now that I have shared that pearl of knowledge, I was going to say that just because there may come a time when the SBC could add an ECU, does it need to? Mega-conferences don’t help you get a G5 bid, and all these schools kind of dilute the punch. I think ECU would be a great add, but I don’t know if it’s something you do just because maybe you can.
Remember when the ACC had, what, nine teams? That was a conference. But it lost some of it soul. Louisville? Come on, man.

My thoughts exactly
What?? Not trying to be forum police, but dang...seems like a genuine OP ... We had on amazing Wknd...keep it going...add strong programs if it's right...how's that trolling?
Dude, no. Anyone who has a handle of "CUSA Forever" and is a fan of George Mason? I'm forwarding this up the chain of command.
Yep….something very very strange about this guy. He actually sounds like a recently banned ‘cusa-only’ fan banned here and now flailing away alone in the twitter-verse.

Well, lets put it this way. Dude didn't just wake up in the morning, decide he wanted to post on the SBC Board, so he created an account with the user name "CUSAForever"

Lets put it this way, he just dropped a post on the Memphis board asking them when they are joining the A10.

Exactly. Dude is a GMU fan. He wants whatever makes the A10 rise above the AAC. The Sun Belt besting the AAC helps the A10 rise above them in prestige too. With Cincy and Houston gone, the only teams in the AAC typically better in hoops than A10 teams is Memphis and Wichita. Maybe Temple.
To the original point. The Sun Belt has passed the AAC... THIS YEAR. We can compete with them and best them on the field. But until we are able to compete with the AAC in financial resources, seasons like this are likely to be seen occasionally at best. You can't expect teams getting 20% of the money as their opponents to be able to beat them consistently. Of course, the AAC payout will likely plummet in the future, which will even things out. But there are several years before that happens and thats a long time to exploit that huge financial advantage to change their outcomes and perception.

Wants Memphis to join the A10 with VCU and GMU
lol I just randomly made the username
Do you stand by your thoughts that Temple, UCONN, USF, and Cincy should drop down to the C-USA? That would be fun. Cincy vs FIU
Nah I was talking about when the big east fell apart a decade ago. Not now lmao
FWIW : from a basketball perspective, the "old caa" should have stuck together too ... vcu, gmu, odu, jmu, ru was a strong core in that sport that drew a lot of fans. There's no such thing as rewinding a decade of change though. Hope your AD figures out its smart to schedule in state rivals again instead of dodging us.
The problem with the CAA was the disparate football aspirations of the football league members. I liked the idea of the CAA even if I hated the league office. But you had schools set on FBS, schools undecided and schools who were dead set against FBS. It would have been interesting to all move up together but W&M, Delaware and Villanova were never going to move.

CAA football was a separate group from the CAA basketball/other sports. The non football CAA was great when it had ODU, GMU, VCU, JMU, Richmond, WM, Wilmington, etc. Football didnt kill the CAA, GMU and VCU bolting for the A10 did, when the CAA was arguably the better league at the time and would have remained so. The Sun Belt situation now reminds me of that a bit. We have a great group of teams, and if we stick together it will be better than the AAC. But if a few of us bolt to the American, it could all crumble too.
