GAME THREAD: TXST at Baylor, 9/17 11am CT, FS1
This is the second game with Baylor as part of a 2 for 1. TXST dropped a close game to the Bears in San Marcos last year.

TXST has played Baylor four times since 2004 and each game has been close. This is probably the best Baylor team that TXST will have faced.

Baylor is ranked 17/19 in national polls.

Here is to hoping TXST can help the SBC take another top 25 scalp.

My twin is a Baylor grad/fan so this is always one of my favorite games.

Would you say that OUR football team is in the same league as App? Marshall? Ga. southern? . . . cause IDK, just spit ballin’ here IF we were, we might have a shot on Saturday.

As we’re not, for us to knock off Baylor, we’d need some help . . . Primarily from them. Their “sleeping on us” for instance would be a big help. As they lost last week in Double OT to BYU, there’s little chance they come into this game anything but focused. And that don’t bode well for the boys wearing Maroon.

Add to that, when’s the last time our vaunted program knocked off a P5? ‘Specially when we rode into that game a 30 point dog.

Could an upset still happen? Sure, it’s why you play the game. . . .

Is it likely this week, at their place ?

I’ll be damned happy if it happens, but given our FB history; I won’t be bettin’ the Ranch on it.

We have at least 1 instance in our history of pulling off a win like this.

2012 at Houston we were a 4.5-point bigger dog than we currently are this Saturday.

So just focus on that one little piece of our FB history. And ignore all the rest...

. . . ooohhh I ‘member that game, and if I recall correctly, we were about a 30 point dog in that one too.

Wish I had more “faith” in this team. Just ain’t seein’ it on the field.

It’s great to see everyone “jacked up” about what the better programs in the conference have been able to do to some of the “Big Boys” this season.

Just tired of seeing our FB program as a perennial conference bottom feeder.

So, here’s to hoping for a miracle, and barring that plenty of Good Scotch to dull the pain.

Sounds about right, and for our pathetic program a HUGE win. Still . . . not a P5 win.

I’d like our chances better IF Baylor had won last week, then they might come into this one looking past us, and even then, we’d need to play a near flawless game. But coming off a loss, I just see them being Uber focused, and even a flawless game on our part (which I doubt we’ll see) doesn’t overcome the talent difference.

But who knows, maybe Baylor players “party” too much tonight, come in a little “hung over” tomorrow morning. . .. perhaps the FB Gawds smile upon our lowly program . .

. . . oh, whom I kidding . . .

RE: GAME THREAD: TXST at Baylor, 9/17 11am CT, FS1
Okay, so reading through some of my posts in this thread, and I can see where they look a little dark . . . .

. ..on a lighter note. I think if you’d looked at our schedule prior to the start of the season, an OOC prediction of 2-2 seems realistically reasonable.

Beat the usual suspects, lose to the usual suspects . . .

. .. so, assuming a beat down tomorrow, we come home and take care of HBU, then we’re right there 2-2.

After that, all we have to do is play a conference record of .500 or better and we’re Bowling. Piece of cake.

See, I can be positive . . .

I expected to be 2-2 through the first four. The Nevada game was not as close as I expected and FIU more of a blowout. Have to really see what we can do in conference to get to 6 wins.

RE: GAME THREAD: TXST at Baylor, 9/17 11am CT, FS1
I'd love to see you guys pull this one off. Watching the way Baylor performed at the end of the BYU game, I feel like if you can hang around and give them a scare they'll get rattled. They looked extremely rattled and it was a bit of a "who wants it less?" ending in that game imo.

I also have a good friend who's a Baylor grad and is one of those people with kind of an "aw that's cute" attitude towards non-P5 football. When I was excited about JMU and the other three joining the Sun Belt she said "Do people care about the Sun Belt? Like, are they relevant?" So Baylor losing to a team that went 3-5 in the SBC last year would be pretty sweet!

Of course following that up with JMU beating you guys in a couple weeks would make it even better but we'll worry about that later 04-cheers

ODU beat VT for the first time in the doldrums of what turned out to be a pretty bad season. There's hope!

Bobcats win the Coin Flip and defer (probably our only win on the day).

. . . Who are the idiots calling this game . . . Opening drive and he’s already saying our D has been on the field too long . . ..and looking tired.

Wulp, to absolutely no one’s surprise, Bears take the opening kickoff, March down the field, and make it 7 - zip Baylor.

Let’s see what kind of answer we have . . .

. . . and we stupidly try to return it out of the end zone, setting up our first drive at the 14.

To no one’s surprise, drive quickly ends in a punt . . ..

That 2 yard dump pass on 3rd and 4 reminded me of our offense the last several years.

My whole point was, where was that play earlier? I don't think these little swing routes to the Running back is going to work against a team that is clearly faster than you.

Don’t look past HBU. I still remember Incarnate Word from last year.
