That's false. Games were moved around for the U.S. Open. At least one game was booted from linear channels. They could move things around here, or sell it I suppose. App v. Troy in Boone is as exciting as whatever else is on this weekend.

You're confused on the timing. The US Open has been on ESPN's schedule for months. ESPN knew they were going to not have ESPN2 games on week 1 of the season and nothing mid afternoon on ESPN in Week 2. Those games were scheduled on another network months ago.

ESPN cannot by contract decide 7 days before a game to swap a network. They are allowed one 7 day window per year that they must notify the conference off 14 days in advance. They did not notify the conference in advance so the App game cannot be moved. The SBC did this as protection to prevent ESPN from deciding to move one of our games from ESPN to ESPN+ because they found a matchup they liked better.

The NFL flexes game all the time on CBS and FOX. Pretty sure ESPN could too. I looked at the schedule. ESPN 2 has Colorado v Minnesota and ESPN U has Kansas v Houston. ESPN shows no game, just ESPN college scoreboard. Why not add the App game?

Contractually many conferences prohibit ESPN from doing this. SBC's contract language prohibits ESPN from moving a game from ESPN2 to ESPN+ for example.

What is the TV schedule for that day?

An extra 4k seats for the three sold out games could have brought in hundreds of thousands in revenue. Hindsight is 20/20, but we missed a big opportunity.

True. App State just needs to have permanent enhancements to the stadium to get it to seat 40K properly.

Agree. We have taken a baby steps mentality when it comes to expansion in the past. Partially dues to funding and uncertainty of our success in FBS. Our enrollment is growing, our alumni base is growing, and most importantly our state is growing. NC is on pace to be top 7 or 8 in population over the next decade. Apps enrollment could exceed 24k by then. The demand is obviously there. We better get moving.

Not sure, to my knowledge we don't have any linear broadcasts this week. Since we're still week 3, all of those games are prset months ago and can't be moved. App and Troy had to be notified of network by our contract in July for this week.

I think people believe this works like the NFL and ESPN can just flex games around to different networks depending on what game is best. That's not the case. Each league has a separate contract with ESPN, and that prevents cross flexing

Imagine if App/Troy was on ESPN2 but App had lost to A&M and ESPN decided since App was 0-2 they didn't want to televise that game? You guys would be up in arms. That's why leagues prohibit cross flexing of games.

We have about 26,000 actual seats. We don't need 40,000 seats but having 30,000 seats certainly is looking warranted. Yes having those almost 3,000 temporary seats for the now four additional sold out games could have brought in an extra hundred thousand plus a game and I would suspect that the leasing of those seats would drop as a large part of the cost is erecting and then taking down the product.

We also need to decrease the number of seats in the upper sections of the West by adding more chair back seats allowing more room, better seating and less congestion going up and down those narrow stairways.

Agree about the west side. We need at least 35k seats. The university is growing and we have some big games coming to town. It's time.

Eh, I don't think App fans would've been up in arms. It would've been irritating to some but that's the life of a G5.

Anything can happen with the agreement of all parties. Letting ESPN flex one game doesn't preclude us from asserting our contractual rights in the future. I was hoping it would change but it looks like it won't.
