As the weeks go by; these polls tend to become more accurate. UTSA should be higher. Still think Tulane's too high and Boise is unraveling. But wait a minuto!!! The CBSSports Oct 3 poll is now out. I'll revise in the next post below.

How is UAB ahead of Liberty? Liberty beat them head to head and UAB just lost to Rice. Fresno should be dropped from rankings after losing to UConn.

The Massey Ratings site currently has 70 different rankings posted since Saturday’s games.

67 of them rate Tulane higher than Troy, 3 of them rate Troy higher than Tulane. The median rating is 19.5 for Tulane and 30.5 for Troy. If anyone wants to call that “disputable”, cool. Have a nice life.

Around here everything is disputable, including whether something is disputable!!

Personally I’d put them #3, passing up UTSA who looked a lot more vulnerable last Saturday.

I’ve considered Tulane #1 since early in the year when they beat KState on the road.

Guess this is just more proof that most preseason prognosticators don't really spend much time learning about non-cartel schools. Tulane and Troy were both completely undervalued and a number of the folks in that first G-5 Top Twenty fell by the wayside!

THIS!!! The level of ignorance can be almost comical. I forget exactly when it happened, but a few years ago — I’ll say it was either ’18 or ’19 — I saw a mid-season “bowl projections” list. It had the G5 Access slot going to… BYU! That would be the same BYU that did not participate in a G5 conference and couldn’t have won the access slot even if they went 12-0. But that’s our sports media for you.
