Kudos to CU for trying, but Deion would be crazy to go to Boulder.

Why? That looks to be his best offer and he will recruit California very well.

Update: Arizona State might be interested.

He's never coached, played, or lived west of Texas and CU is a graveyard right now. If he wants to go out there ASU is a better option to your point. Also if he doesn't think there's the right job out there now he can always stay at JSU until that changes, though I can see him taking on GT or USF for a rebuild in the south to prove himself in FBS.

Jackson State was a graveyard job. Sanders recruiting territory is the whole world.
Seems like the 49ers are west of Texas.

We don't talk about that one year he spent there. He loves Dallas, he lives in Dallas!!

Should they have had to settle for an Oregon assistant coach with no head coaching experience?

Surely they aren't desperate enough to call Coach Boom, it was embarrassing when we hired him at South Carolina, for Auburn to hire him now would be almost unthinkable...unless their master plan is to incapacitate Nick Saban with debilitating laughter.

Of course, we are talking about Auburn here. As the Ol' Ball Coach famously said of a fire that destroyed 20 books at the Auburn library, "[t]he real tragedy was that 15 hadn't been colored yet."

The home run hire for Auburn would be Curt Cignetti from JMU.

Tulane is about to have their biggest home game on ABC Saturday since they left the SEC. That sucks it couldn't have waited until after Saturday.

...well, I was thinking he might end up at UAB... 03-drunk ...but the more I study up on CC, looks like he could land a P5 gig easily...

They didn't settle, he's an ASU alum and a hot young prospect. He might be a bit too young, but whomever they hired would need a few years to get beyond the sanctions/defections so they have time with him.

Agree totally. Sometimes it works well - I know when Kiffen had his last game at FAU in the CUSA championship game (against UAB), they stomped us well - they had easily the best team that season, and seemed to be a big 'farewell' deal in that case... hopefully Tulane can get the same vibe going Saturday (although if UCF wins, AND makes the access bowl, I'm also good with that... OR, if SOMEhow UTSA ends up jumping into the access spot, I'm good with that as well... 02-13-banana )

They may as well just keep driving the Cadillac for a couple years. No harm in it with Saban still at bama, no huge expectations, and that guy has fire in his belly. Definitely an Auburn Guy. If things work out he gets big raise/extension, if not it will be a whole lot easier to attract a good coach with bama in turmoil and Auburn having had enough bad seasons to temper expectations a bit.

If as some are reporting, Willie Fritz lands the Georgia Tech job, I'm quite sure Troy head coach Jon Sumrall would be at the top of Tulane's list.

ASU Alum that wants to be there, school is facing NCAA investigation. Alums, boosters, players are excited about the hire.
