I wonder what the MWC CCG ratings will be? It was shown live on CBS. That is in more households than CBSSportsNetwork.

The MWC CCG was on FOX. Last year was about as bad as you can get for a CCG on an OTA network. 816K! The MAC CCG got 867K on ESPN at noon. Of course the MWC competed vs. Cincinnati in the AAC and Georgia/Alabama in the SEC so you'd expect them to suck. FOX is counting the days to get out of this contract, especially if San Diego State moves to the Pac 12.

Of course you have to attribute it to USC and if I'm ESPN or FOX and George Kliavkoff tries to use that number in negotiations, I'll probably say that's USC to him.

I'd expect the Saturday game viewerships to come out Tuesday. Without Alabama, I would guess the SEC to be down. The Big Ten had Michigan in a non competitive game both years and this year's was closer than 42-3 so maybe it goes up. The Big 12 had an undefeated TCU so you might see it go up. The ACC had Clemson and you can't really do worse ratings wise than Wake Forest so I'd expect a small gain. AAC? Unfortunately last year was about as good as you would get for them with Cincinnati playing for an undefeated season and possible (and eventual) Playoff berth. I'd expect a sharp drop although they were competing with Georgia/Alabama last year vs. Georgia/three loss LSU this year.

The Pac CCG was up not only b/c of USC but also b/c it was a CFP play in game for USC.

As for the Big 12 title game, I think that Baylor/OSU probably have more fans that TCU and KSt, but TCU was undefeated so...should be about the same?

Seemed like an SEC title game, not a P12 title game.

Too bad USC and UCLA have screwed it up. The PAC has a good thing going in Las Vegas.

The Pac 12 CG viewership is a record, according to FOX Sports Public Relations.

TCU vs KSU might be affected by USA soccer match.

Remaining Ratings have released:

SEC Champ: Georgia-LSU 10.89M
B1G Champ: Michigan-Purdue 10.7M
Big 12 Champ: KSU-TCU 9.41M
PAC Champ: USC-Utah 5.97M
ACC Champ: Clemson-UNC 3.47M
AAC Champ: Tulane-UCF 2.7M
MWC Champ: Fresno-Boise 1.94M
MAC Champ: Toledo-Ohio 721K
SWAC Champ: Southern-JSU 391K
Sun Belt Champ: Coastal-Troy 332K

Big 12 pulled really well. Almost as many viewers as the PAC and ACC combined. Second straight year with very high ratings without Texas/OU in the title match. Of consideration was the US World Cup game which was competing in the same timeslot and drew (relatively) well.

That's a great Big 12 rating. Kansas St-TCU was within only 1.5 million of Georgia-LSU and Michigan-Purdue.

Those are strong ratings for everyone except the ACC, whose ratings were basically G5 level.

For all those who didn't think the Big 12 could make it without OUT, I think we will do more than okay.

Well, actually...
The US World Cup match concluded quite nicely before the KState game. Tidy move from futbol to football in this house. Australia -Argentina did 8.3 million between Fox and Telemundo, but probably had less impact than a US match would have.

Yep, no Texas or OU in the championship game, and another very strong rating. Dusting the PAC and ACC.

Not bad for the AAC considering LSU was head to head with Tulane.

RE: 2022 College Football TV Ratings Thread
I was surprised they chose to take on the SEC with AAC, MWC and Sun Belt.
MAC is mostly different territory than the Big 12 which they took on.
ACC got crunched by Big 10. Game didn't mean anything to the CFP, but did to the orange bowl. Game wasn't as close, but was expected to be much closer.

They had a sellout for the game and the 5.97 million viewers was not bad, although the game would do better on Saturday. Moving the Pac-12 CCG to Las Vegas at Allegiant Stadium has worked well.

It must have been crazy on the strip this weekend, with the National Rodeo Finals going on at the same time as the Pac-12 CCG and a Raiders Chargers game on Sunday. The sight of Cowboys mixing with Raider fans on the strip, along with exuberant Utah fans and disconsolate USC fans, must have been an interesting mix.

People talk about "Blue blood", but it really is a minor factor, especially this time of year. Ratings are driven by rankings and playoff/ postseason relevance.

it matters. Michigan-Purdue was not an attractive matchup, but Michigan is a great TV draw. If Texas and OU were in the same position as TCU and KSU, it would have been really huge ratings.

But rankings/relevance are also big attractions.

I think when you control for all variables (rankings, network, window, competing games/ sports), it really doesn't matter that much, especially this time of year. Maybe early in the season a name can carry viewership, but college football fans are attracted to games that matter in the national picture, first and foremost. Obviously, "name" programs are more consistently ranked and tend to be in games that matter more than non "name" programs. But media partners in every league put the most nationally relevant games/teams in their preferred windows, because that is the most important predictor of ratings.

Saw a post attributed to ESPN that the TCU-KSU game peaked at 12.7 million viewers (probably during OT), the highest of any game last weekend.
