I can barely get a cell phone signal in the stadium but outside the stadium it is fine. Need to get a cell phone tower added or WiFi.

Take sideways pictures... they fit better.

A 20 yd shot of the high school bands isnt a good look when talking attendance.

Just FYI, I didn't take any of these pictures, found them on Facebook and Twitter.

As usual, our opponent didn't bring many fans.

Here's some others of the east side.

Sticking a light pole at the front of the stands is very old school. I believe the lighting in the old Rubber Bowl used to be that.

Our stadium needs major renovation. It has basically gone untouched since the east grandstands were built in the mid-90s. However, our AD is in year 10 and has no major facility upgrade/fundraising under his belt. He has barely fundraised for facilities and talked about trying to get naming rights sponsorship for Huskie Stadium and the Convocation Center and nothing has come of it.

I saw a game there last year. I like the stadium overall, including the height of the seating on the west side. Bowling Green's Perry Stadium slope is so gentle that if people stand up in front of you, you have no choice but to stand up. Also many of the rows near the front in our ballpark offer a lousy view of the game because you are so close to the ground.

I will say that it is a bit of a three-D labyrinth under the stands at Northern Illinois. Take a wrong turn, and you could walk in darkness for quite a while going down one flight of steps, then another. At least that's how I remember it. It's not terrible, just quirky, I guess.

It's not laid out very well under the West stands, that's for sure.

HS is much better than the Doyt IMO. Probably rivals Miami as stadiums of its type in the conference. And that crowd is good. Looks like 20,000 to me. But for a P5 Saturday game we should expect that. It needs to look like that for Toledo in 3 weekends. UT will travel if we are 4-1 headed into nonrivals week.

I was surprised to see in the box score it was just 14,000+.

The West grandstands were built in the 1960s. They do indeed have those weird scissor walkways. That entire side needs to be gutted and redone with brand new press box. The East grandstands have normal staircases to get into the stands. I always sit on the east side because that side has all the energy and excitement in the stadium.

Yeah, I'm not the most accurate estimator of crowd sizes, but those pics look quite a bit more than 14K.

Since we don't have a clue about gameday management, I wouldn't be surprised if it was undercounted a bit. I think the high school bands made the east side look a lot more full though.

NIU has a nice stadium ( perfect size with a fairly new end zone facility), but man that press box has to go !!04-cheers

RE: MAC Home Attendance
For someone who has been in all pressboxes but Miami and Ohio... NIUs is only worse than Toledo, WMU, Kent and Akrons. The Doyt has 2, so i guess ive never been in the single tier one. Also dont remember Buffalo even having one? I was in the endzone for that game.

EMUs is horrible especially with the one elevator. Ball State no better or worse than NIU. CMU was a tiny bit more spacious, but the food sucked there. I havent been to Mt Pleasant since the endzone rehab. It looks good on TV now.

I thought Ball State did new press boxes around 15 years ago. Certainly NIU's have to be the worst. They’re so small and old. I think there's only one small men's bathroom for everyone to share.

RE: MAC Home Attendance
Ball State’s east stands were erected in the mid 90s, apparently to pay homage to Indiana high schools. Those stands have not been touched since, with exception of construction fencing added nearly 20 years ago. And, even better, it’s basically what the millions see during Maction. 03-puke

It’s like Kent and BSU collaborated - “hey, let’s do some good marketing and make the facilities on TV look awful”.

BSU and Kent east stands need a makeover similar Miami and NIU.
