No. One of our 2 rivals is in CUSA. CUSA is a better basketball league. Liberty will have a realistic chance of making the CFP playoffs some years which brings in more money. I don’t see any WAC school being able to do that. CUSA has several well established FBS schools while all of the WAC would be FCS move ups. I’m sure there are many more reasons, but those are off the top of my head.

No we want to play real teams that people have heard of.

To add:

CUSA has bowl tie ins which generate more money for members and has media rights deal that actually gives members guaranteed money.

Not SH, but there are schools already interested if this happens. It’s not a big secret that NMSU and UTEP want in the MWC. But, if that doesn’t happen and the WAC goes FBS before then, I hear they’ve expressed initial interest.

I think the CFP vs NCAA issue is legit. The private CFP would have a lot to say, and if they are already moving towards exclusion then why would they invite an entirely new conference. Of course, their exclusion trajectory works against CUSA, and SHSU & NMSU, as well. That is something I have said all along. The CFP doesn't give a rat's a$$ about NMSU or SHSU, just like they don't about ACU or SFA or Tarleton...

**Yes, CUSA has bowl ties, but the CFP is moving away from the smaller bowls and more money will be pushed to the playoffs**

I hear the WAC is working to re-connect with old Bowl tie-ins and possibly new ones. The Holiday Bowl, First Responders Bowl, and Camellia Bowl were mentioned.

I’m sure NMST fans would be thrilled to rejoin Tarleton and Dixie plus Austin Peay when they inevitably go FBS.

That would be interesting but is there really enough to negotiate?

Who is SHSU?
A school that already has an FBS invite and isn’t waiting of “FBS golden tickets”.

You know it’s much more than that. Travel is expensive. The new WAC will provide them with two schools in Utah and four in Texas.

Of course, they want MWC.

Speaking of the Aggies, they flew across the country to play Liberty and are up 28-7 at the half!

I call BS. The exit fees from CUSA are 2 million dollars. I don't see NMSU and UTEP doing that for an upstart FBS conference. The MWC, yes.

Besides the exit fees for NMSU, we've already put a down payment of 1.5 million this year in entrance fees to CUSA and will have to pay more in the coming years. So has/will SHSU.

The 3.5 million is a drop in the bucket compared to their costs for CUSA travel over the next decade. That’s less than Freeze was to make in 1 season as HC at Liberty. He’s likely gone now, though.

Hope y’all beat them today!

Its 42-7 now midway through the 3rd quarter. NMSU playing lights out with Kill now.

Interesting. So, did SHSU express interest in possibly joining this conference once it is inevitably FBS, and the presidents of Austin Peay, Eastern Kentucky, Southern Utah, etc. were like “nah”? Or did they keep the door open.

Man, I really really hope their opinion changes. I just would love nothing more than to play FBS football with North Alabama and Dixie.

Seems some bridges were burned. That's all I heard. I don't keep up with most of these schools, so I'm learning more each day.

Also, you can keep digging at UNA and "Dixie" but I don't care. I'm not a proponent of UNA going to FBS but I don't make the decisions.

Have fun getting beat in every sport by P5-funded Liberty. I have no desire for my alma mater to be back in a conference with them.
