RE: WAC Football 2022
Anything to do with NMSU Football has been split off into a separate thread and put on the NMSU board. There were 36 NMSU related posts to 19 WAC Related posts. Keep this thread related to WAC football please. NMSU football has nothing to do with the WAC.

RE: WAC Football 2022
Like I was saying, I think all of us WAC teams need to step up our play and boost our conference ranking. I think ACU and Tarleton will be doing so. I am not sure about SFA, but one bad game isn't enough to say they aren't. I am still getting to know Utah Tech and Southern Utah, but I think both of them are still growing. Of the WAC/ASUN alliance, the WAC is the lower ranked conference with less depth and no one is really talking about us. It's going to take winning games we are supposed to and a few we aren't to change anything. Are our OOC games going to do anything to change that? ACU doesn't play any ASUN games this year, so we won't be able to compare any head-to-head with them.

Tarleton is playing North Alabama who was picked last in the ASUN poll, but they did have the most players on the preseason all conference team.

I think UNA has a lot of potential to cause some damage. I don't see them as play-off worthy yet but they are still growing and could cause some disturbances if taken lightly. I think it will be a good game for Tarleton, better than MS Valley St.

RE: WAC Football 2022
Because of the WAC/ASUN alliance, future conference??, I am including the rankings for both. Tarleton and Utah Tech are not listed. I went ahead and included SH and JSU from each for comparison. The composite is basically only using * recruits of when they were coming out of high school. We knew that ACU had brought in a lot of talent. The question remains how quickly that talent gelled and how it translated on the field. Team recruiting rankings don't always equate to season rankings and/or championships, but it gives us hope.

WAC
#127 ACU
#138 SHSU
#151 SFA
#188 Southern Utah
ASUN
#131 JSU
#133 EKU
#154 AP
#157 UNA
#169 UCA
#211 KSU

On a separate note, we can't wait for our first game in a few hours. It's been raining off and on for the last couple of days, so the field and ball could still be a little slick at times, but the temperature has been GREAT and the fans are ready. It's time to see what we are working with in our new era.

We didn't play as well as I had hoped. I give credit to Lamar playing better than last year and changing up their play calling. Chandler is a hard guy to tackle. Still, we have a lot of work to do. Our defense played pretty well over-all once they settled in. I didn't see them attack the ball like I did in our scrimmages though. Our offense isn't as far along. Our OL especially needs work. McIvor showed he has skill but needs more game time. Our receivers couldn't get very open most of the time. We have a lot of skill, but we need more development. Still, good to see the guys get their first win.

WAC 3-0 last night. Less than 9,000 at Tarleton??? Must have been a rodeo in town or something.

And they struggled with a SWAC team. Going to be a long year for them.

Weather was an issue in the Ville. I didn’t go to the game due to the weather but did watch it on ESPN Plus.
Good first game. Allen is going to be a very good QB. I was very pleased with the low penalties as it was an issue last year.

Tell us you didn’t watch the game without telling us you didn’t watch the game. And I believe we have a winner!!!

Lol good to know we're already in your head if you're trying to spin a Game-1 500-yard offensive onslaught to a "struggle". Mistakes did take some points off the board for sure.
As far as attendance...well, you see, what happened was, there was, like, 34,000 fans there, then it started to rain a little. More than 2/3 left before the game started so you couldn't see the huge crowd on TV. But trust me, they were there! Just ask anybody that wasn't actually at the game. But hey, at least we gave an accurate attendance number instead of throwing a dart at a board and landing on some random number like 23,000 and call it good.

Thursday night game with bad weather against a SWAC school is a perfect storm for low attendance. Home side was pretty packed, visitor side virtually empty. Game plan was pretty vanilla but seeing a dinosaur walk around the stadium was pretty entertaining. As long as Whitten is the coach I have low expectations for the team so I guess I cant say I was too disappointed in the performance.

Exactly. By design. Watered down RPO is all what you want to show when play @ TCU next week. Defense played man-to-man the entire game. Didn't see a single blitz.

It’s been watered down for years. RPO, slant, fade, out with #1 receiver with a few zone/ power concepts and you have every version of HS football offense of the past 20 years. Lame.
