It was embarrassing when we lost to Alabama in the playoffs. It's cool for Michigan to have lost twice. Everybody remember to update their college football narratives for when we join the P5

Yeah, I'm still not convinced that's bad news for O$U.

Kind of agree. Their fan base is pissed, and you have to believe rival coaches will be using his repeated NFL flirtation to negatively recruit.

Pretty sure you're going to see a new contract in short order...this was all just a play to get his old contract back that relied less on incentives. Plus, it isn't exactly a secret that Harbaugh and Manuel (Michigan's AD) basically hate each other, sounds like Ono was the guy working the contract out.

I think Manuel would have been quite happy to see Harbaugh go. It sounds like he's done there what he did with the 49ers front office. Ono's too new for Harbaugh to have worn out his welcome with him yet, and Ono is always going to do whatever creates publicity for Ono, so who knows how their relationship will play out. In any event, if the new contract doesn't have a huge buyout, I expect Harbaugh will be right back doing this again next January. The real question is do these NFL teams really have an interest in him or are they just yanking his chain and publicly humiliating him for what he did to the 49ers front office?

LMFAO. If anyone at Michigan wants to see Harbaugh go, they are idiots. He is so far and away their best coach since at least Lloyd Carr, but probably since Bo.

The 49ers front office and ownership could have said the same thing, yet they couldn't wait to get that guy out of town. That's just the effect he has on people. At some point, people just start saying nothing is worth having to deal with this guy.

We didn't play Georgia, you did and got your asses wiped with sandpaper. We never would get embarrassed like you did. We smoked Ohio State on the road and they nearly beat Georgia. Go figure.

He's also 2-0 against his arch rival after losing the previous five in a row. Not to mention, now that Stroud is gone he has the best returning QB in the B1G.

Losing to the team that then lost the next game 682-7 ins't embarrassing?

Losing to a team that gets thumped later is not inherently embarrassing since games can quickly get out of control. If UGA and TCU played 100 times IMO UGA wins 8+ times but I don't think they win by 50+ points more than once or twice.

Now IMO I do think MI should have been embarrassed by having their vaunted D dismantled to the tune of 5 gazillion points by a team that almost played itself out of the CFP in the first place but that's a completely different discussion

RE: 2022 College Football Season Thread
I think people overuse the term "embarrassed". TCU made the college football playoff finals. They did it by only losing once in the second-best conference by computer rankings. They did it by beating one of the two unbeaten teams going into the playoff (a team that beat the other semi-final loser on its home field).

Sure, the Championship was disastrously bad, but a loss is a loss. They lost to the best team. Nobody is going to care how a year from now.

I certainly didn't say they got embarrassed from their season. Losing in the manner they did and by the scoring margin they did in the chip game was embarrassing and I'm sure they would tell you that. That said, all of this conjecture about Michigan is equal to or less than TCU is moot and pointless because of the failure in transitive logic as I posted upstream.

We all know how good Vegas is at setting lines. If you lose by more than double digits over the spread, it was an embarrassing loss.

They were playing football when all but one team was eliminated. They beat the only unbeaten besides Georgia (who beat the other semi-final loser). Please make me "embarrassed" like that one day.

Sorry. I just don't buy this. It undoubtedly sucked in the moment, but it was far more incredible they were there, than it was that they got their ass kicked by the best team in the finals.

I think it's more the media that is fueling the narritive than the teams/schools actually being interested in him. It was the same with Fickell two years ago. Everytime a job opened up, he was mentioned as the top candidate.

Like '92 said, you are muddying the waters with the team and how they got there and the game itself.

That's your opinion and you can have it. Google TCU and embarrassed and you'll get about 100+ opinions/articles differing from yours.

Good summation sir. Ohio State has been walloped by several SEC teams in NY6 bowls and/or the CFP and I really don't hear the "E" word in reference to the Buckeyes.

I give Georgia all the credit--they were a machine in the championship game and played to perfection. Were they less than sharp much of that game against OSU or were the Buckeyes really that good? It's all just conjecture but we saw what MI did to OSU in Columbus and what TCU did to MI. TCU earned national runner-up and no one can take that away.

Why does there need to be a comeback? One week does not translate to the next week. If you haven't learned that yet, you're going to be on an emotional rollercoaster and won't be able to figure things out.

UC got hammered by Florida way back when in the Sugar Bowl. But at the time it was a huge deal just to get to the Sugar Bowl and I would be thrilled to be in the position to get walloped in a major bowl again.

If TCU had lost to Georgia... lets say, 31-10... I could buy your argument.

Dude, they lost 65-7. That's worse than getting your gym shorts whipped down in front of the whole school.

Michigan basically gave O$U back the bagging rights for this season by losing to TCU.

Yep, all the OSU fans in the neighborhood put back up their OSU flag with a mini TCU flag next to it. Burlap sacks and ashes due to their embarrassment.
