It’s so crazy how we were one tipped pass away from beating UTSA and the entire narrative surrounding them would probably fall apart. They are getting a ton of hype right now

UTSA hype is deserved but they still showed UAB some love, especially with the coaching change topic...lol. What was interesting to me was that Noah Wilder was the only UAB player offensively or defensively to get a mention regarding the player's discussions.

That's ok. Less hype, less pressure. Players not getting mentioned may play with a chip on their shoulder and are far less likely to get a big head and start believing what they read in the press. I don't think we're being disrespected, UAB just isn't the new shiny object anymore.

I'm fine with that coverage.

Exactly! That UTSA team was great last year but they lost their star running back and a good chunk of defensive players. We were back and forth the whole game until 4th and inches and then that miracle tip passed and catch in the endzone.

But also, since there are no divisions I still see a UTSA at UAB championship game. If Zappe and co. were still at WKU I'd change my mind, but no one in the East really pops out to me.

...but UAB’s DeWayne McBride also feels like a strong candidate based on his past performances and a talented offensive line.

Not saying he isn't. Unless I missed something I didn't see his name mentioned in the article.

RE: Conference USA Roundtable: Predictions for the 2022 Season
I think McBride will be the best offensive player in the conference but it’ll be surprising if anyone other than Harris wins OPOY assuming Harris stays healthy. Hard to beat out a QB on a good team with excellent WRs who also has a ton of hype and a proven ability to perform at a high level in big moments.

If uAB was not so conservative against Utsa ,,,UAB will have win by 10 ...not worry to much about them this year ,,WKU may be a different story

UAB loses their star RB all the time and always find an excellent replacement. Yes, UTSA lose 6 starters off their defense but UAB lost some significant D-lineman as well. All in all it really doesn't matter what we think, the play on the field will say it all.

RE: Conference USA Roundtable: Predictions for the 2022 Season
I think UTSA could be better than last year. Harris and those receivers are bigtime. They are recruiting at a high level and the RB transfer from Arkansas seems like an adequate replacement for McCormick.

But UTSA also lived a little bit of a charmed life last season winning a bunch of close games that could have gone the other way. They won by 7 at Illinois, by 3 at Memphis, by 7 vs UNLV, by 6 at WKU and by 3 and 1 inch + a fingernail vs UAB.

They open with Houston, at Army and at Texas. It isn’t inconceivable that they start 1-2 or 0-3 even if they are in fact better than last season in terms of talent.

They could be pretty beat up after that start. There won't be a safe knee against Army
