Seminole HS to UCF pipeline is more important than if he can win the QB battle or not.

McClain Family and the Seminole HS coaches have alleged USF didn’t allow Timmy McClain the opportunity to compete for QB1. That Bohanon was guaranteed the QB1 position during his transfer recruitment.

Who knows what was really said, but I find it hard to believe anyone was guaranteed anything... We have a history of transfers not panning out, and Scott is under huge pressure to win fast. The better QB should start no matter what.

Timmy had his chance. People who watched the practices calculated who had the overall higher QB rating and it was Gerry.

Timmy is a great QB and he’s gonna do well in the Big 12, but the simple fact is that he got beat out. It’s not unexpected, because Gerry is older and more experienced. Not a knock on him at all.

I wouldn’t be laughing, there’s a very good chance Jimmy Horn follows Timmy after the season. This isn’t just us being homers. And Goldie has flirted with UCF a lot, even before this news.

are some of our fans Blind? QB and LB are our roster weak spots. It is like fans have no concept of context in how to evaluate individual players. TWill and our DLine is why the UCF win total was what it was


I would not shock me to see McClain win the job and start in 2023.

Because he has a lot of talent. He almost beat UCF last year. Believe it or not USF probably had more talent at QB this year with Bohanon and McClain than UCF did. Scott hitched is cart to Bohanon, for better or for worse, so McClain left.

Just because a team is bad and another team is good does not mean the bad team doesn't have good individual players. He will compete for the starting job at UCF. No idea if he'll win it, but it wouldn't surprise me. I personally thought he would be our next QF in time. Supposedly, he was also being recruited by BYU, Penn State, and Wisconsin. He played really well vs. BYU last year.

I hope Jimmy Horn stays at USF after this year, that kid is really explosive.

I am glad McCLain is getting a chance somewhere. I do find it rather odd that some fans are attempting to rub it into our face.

He is literally the QB that we rejected. I think he’s talented, but he was our second option.

His father is an interesting character, cause he’s acting like he did something big. His dad was A LOT of the issue. He wanted his son to have the job without competition. I was a former athlete. Played three years in Italy. (Euro football… soccer). I just can’t respect anyone who is that afraid of competition.

I hope Timmy corrects that and goes on to have an amazing career, but there is one thing that is REALLY standing out to me. The entire locker room is behind Gerry. That makes me know we made the right choice.

In my book USF made their decision and Timmy made his. Everyone needs to move on. Wish the kid well, doesn’t change how I feel about USF nor UCF. College Football is a business and players know it which is why transferring even to rivals means nothing to them if is in their interest.

McClain’s dad is the epitome of helicopter parent though. Dude’s an adult. Let him live his life without getting involved. My kid played college sports on scholarship. I didn’t say one word to the coaches about playing time or anything.

Mikey Keene will have stqrted for 2 years at that point... the only way you are saying he is starting om 2023 is saying you think this year will be a flop that changes will need to be made

outside of short term "hurt" USF, "im going to the rival, who isin the big 12"...this makes no sense ...ucf played a freshmen qb last year... you are leaving usf because they let you start as a freshmen but at most took the job for 1 year where you are back to starting the next year ..would have likely started a few games this year as usf is great and no great teams often "Try" different qbs ...to go to a school where you wont play this year and not expected to play for 3 years, and keene is too short to be a major nfl prospect

I think he will take over at Central. Timmy is very good. He just wasn’t better than Gerry, right now. Long term, I thought Timmy had the potential to be one of the greatest QBs USF ever had.
Hopefully his dad backs off and allows this young man room to grow.

You can never have enough talent, especially at the QB position. He’s raw but extremely talented, and also helps us secure the pipeline at Seminole HS. There’s not really a reason not to take him. Going into the P5, we have to be stacking talent, we can’t just pass on one talented QB because we don’t want to “scare away” the others.

Exactly. Just because he lost out to Gerry doesn't mean he isn't super talented.

I encourage UCF fans go back and rewatch the USF/UCF highlights from last year. Timmy nearly drove USF in for the win on the last drive, if not for one bad play at the end. Timmy can throw lasers, he has a good arm and very mobile. He can extend plays when things break down. He just had your typical freshman ups and downs.

i get why ucf would take him (great backup option).. i just dont get why he would want to go there.. if pt is your issue, why go to a school where you might not get pt for 3 years
