Internal strife at Kentucky?
I haven't followed every development of this episode, but Mark Stoops had every right to come to the defense of himself and everyone involved with that program. John Calipari was way out of line.

Here's a breakdown from SDS on some of the macro issues at play here:

Kentucky can replace Calipari, but not Mark Stoops

To be honest, I'm not super impressed with John Calipari on the whole. He's a good coach and a great recruiter, but he's more of a recruiter than a coach. As much talent as he's had in his tenure, I think it's fair to call him an underachiever.

This likely all staged so that Kentucky jumps ahead of realignment news and creates a healthy rivalry between hoops and football in house. I think it's a smart PR move!

RE: Internal strife at Kentucky?
Living in Kentucky I can tell you Cal's credibility has dropped a few more notches with this among Kentucky fans. Especially after the way They were embarrassed with His last 2 years. They are sick of most guys leaving after 1 or 2 seasons where it seems Cal cares more about getting guys into the NBA instead of winning in the NCAA tournament. He's lucky He has Oscar around for another year.
Mark Stoops knows what it takes to build a winner and He has changed the culture around the Commonwealth to actually believe Kentucky can begin to compete annually instead of Well Basketball season is starting soon

When Cal gets himself in trouble with pearl-clutchers, my usual thought is "Well, he ain't lying". He is in a position where he doesn't have to tip-toe or appease. He essentially has a lifetime contract, and you would be hard-pressed to find examples where he did not put his players first. I think you can pin some bad decisions on him for how he underutilizes player's talents at times, but he always stands on the table when he wants something bad enough for the program.
