I know nothing about him except he is from Colorado.

Think the other thread will die at 10 pages... 04-chairshot

Thankfully so. Not a lot out there on other offers. Redshirt candidate?

Geez, how the game has changed. A 6'9" two guard in High School? That is about six inches taller than the center of my HS basketball team.

Thanks for breaking this, Steve.

Apparently, we offered him a month and a half ago- while we were all dreaming on Johnson.

Does anyone know anything about Pranger? The kid looks skinny, I am guessing a redshirt candidate? I am sure a 6’9” guard seemed appealing to the coaching staff for the future though.

I think EMU has removed his announcement from their website.

Yep. Trying to predict MBB signings sometimes is like to trying to predict where the next piece of space junk will land.

The obvious question is: What is the connection between the EMU staff and the recruit?

Sure some are straightforward. Emoni is one. Golson was easy. He played for Bob Simon at Sienna and transferred home. Some others are from Detroit.

Others are ???????????

I have NO idea what our connection to him is.

RE: We got our last MBB recruit
I'm putting 2 + 2 together (maybe):

Earl Boykins coached from 2013 - 19 at Douglas County, CO H.S. (before moving on to Texas El Paso). https://utepminers.com/sports/mens-baske...ykins/2798
"Boykins’s head coaching experience came at Douglas County High School (Colo.) from 2013-19 where he lifted a program that was 0-18 before his arrival. He coached the team to the playoffs the last three years. In addition, he founded non-profit “Boykins Kids” and has been a lecturer on leadership. "

Our recruit is from Centennial H.S., near Denver. Centennial and Douglas County are about 25 miles apart or less than the distance from the city of Detroit and EMU.

Earl Boykins was at EMU earlier this year. Coaches talk. Coaches are part of a brotherhood. Was our recruit a suggestion from Boykins???

That's the best I can do without more information. Still found NOTHING about his recruitment. Just a little bit of stats:

https://www.maxpreps.com/athlete/derik-p.../stats.htm

Here is his Tweeter account which has some more info: https://twitter.com/derik_pranger

Curious why Miggy thinks of his form, style, etc.? https://twitter.com/ColoradoPrep_/status...5Jggr0H7oQ

The tweet says full athletic scholarship. And I think we already have 3 walkons with Joey Zaher, Prakash, and Wells.

I do agree with everyone’s confusion too. I was thinking that EMU would try to preserve the scholarship for next years strong recruiting class by getting a one and done. And if they used it on a potential 4 year player, it would have been a stud. A 6’9 guard is of value of course, but Pranger looks like he will need to redshirt.

I agree with the notion that a one and done can be valuable. I'd rather have a one and done rather than a reach.

That said, I'm not making any judgement about him. It is a general statement.

RE: We got our last MBB recruit
BTW, I do like what is available to a PWO. Anyone know what the COA is for EMU? I'll guess say 400+ a month.

And I'd think players spend less on food as so much of their food is training table, on travel at games, etc. etc.

In Pranger's junior year in HS he shot only 42 percent on two's and 30 percent on three's, and in videos seemed not quick.

Just viewed a video of him in which he score 21-points in one game and 28 points in another game his senior year. Appears to be a far more confident, taller aggressive, quicker, and stronger player his senior season. Seems like he has good passing skills and high IQ. He should be able to play immediately.

Needs to get use to quicker tempo of college ball. Having a long wing who can defend the three and shoot the three ball is huge. Hope he helps the front-line.

EMU will be far better than last season, how much so remains to be seen.

Heath has done a great job improving every aspect of the roster this season. As EMU has improved both it's back and front court. Team is deep.

I'll take the speculation further. Was he a Plan B recruit while Johnson was Plan A?

Actually, I thought I saw it and then gone. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's what I remember.

I thought I went to the EMU website as soon as I saw it on Twitter.

The only reason I know is because I went and did the exact same thing once I saw it. Perhaps there it was in the Twitter section of the website that runs posts we're tagged in... But I was hoping for a full class release and there was nothing.
