RE: We got our last MBB recruit
Pranger appears to have committed to Northern Colorado at some point in HS and then had a change of heart.
I've seen the term "late bloomer" thrown out. While I don't believe that to be the case here, I do remember... vividly....
There was a recruit who many viewed as a "late bloomer" that narrowed things down to EMU and Detroit Mercy.
They chose Mercy and went on to play well there.
They have since played overseas, shined in the G-League, and got picked up on a few 10 day contracts in the NBA last season.
They recently signed a deal with the Utah Jazz as well.

People develop when they develop. Our perception doesn't have to fit their schedule.

EMU needed another good shooter who could help EMU win. Having Pranger red-shirting makes no sense.

It's my opinion he's better right now than 7 or 8 current roster players. We'll get to see if he is or not.

What's your basis for thinking he'll red-shirt? That's not happening nor should it.

There are a lot of mouths to feed at the 3 and 4. I don’t think he’s athletic or strong enough to contribute immediately.

I think Pranger is a necessary ingredient for EMU to be successful team. As hopefully, he along with Acuff, will bring consistently good play that will complement and be a good fit playing with both Noah and Emoni.

Pranger has a good skill. He's is a good three-point shooter, has good handles, can distribute the ball, and has a high bb IQ. His being a good ball distributor will allow Heath if he so chooses to run the offense thru him as a point forward.

Hopefully, his high bb IQ will result in his committing few turnovers nor excessive fouls.

His height will allow him to defend both the three-point line or the rim.

Sense that he can drive to the rim ask well.

As a good shooter, EMU will be able to place four good three-point shooters on the court at the same time. That will force opponents to pick their poison. As such, he'll make others better players.

Doubt that EMU's other bigs can play as effectively as he can on the perimeter.

Just hope that he adjusts quickly to the college game, and earns playing 20 plus minutes per game. As EMU will be a better team if he does so.

Remind me again of his other D1 offers and list them please. Thanks.

Should be interesting. I did look at his senior 'tape' and I saw some good skills. Looks like he is built for the NBA-style game.

Why his lack of offers? IDK.

I am glad football recruiting as grown past the no other offer stage. As someone once said there aren't any recruiting secrets anymore. Half the folks here drolled over Jalen King who was a great kid but not D1 material. Hopefully he gets a redshirt and time to develop.

I remember Andre Rafus being a huge get for the Murphy Eagles at one point. Dude washed out quicker than a ketchup stain from a pre-game tailgate.

He was a "three star" with multiple high-major offers and originally committed to some Big 12 school, can't recall at the moment.

My faith is much higher that the current regime can take a long-term project and turn it into something dependable. I know it is basically unfounded faith at this point, but I'm willing to grant it.

007 you are the Man! Thanks for recalling Andre Rafus as he is not included in the 2017-18 roster on the EMU website, and I forgot his name. He had committed to TCU, we "stole" him, and the EMU site was jubilant with his signing, publishing a proud story as to such.

Then... we soon found out what we had. Andre may have been a great kid BUT he clearly had ZERO business playing Division 1 basketball. I can clearly remember Alum 93 and myself wincing when he got on the court, he was that BAD.

oh

EMU needs good depth at both the SF and PF positions. Pranger's recruitment by Northern Colorado is a good sign as it's a good bb program.

I like Bates and Geeter. Pranger, Billingsley, Golson, and Jihad, all have to prove themselves as worthy back-ups.

It's just pre-season and players haven't practiced together. So I hope some good-back-ups emerge from this group.

As I said before, if Pranger doesn't earn playing time, then EMU may well signed the wrong player if others don't step up their game. Hoping that Pranger is a better version of Binelli on both sides of the floor.

As for the current roster, I like Noah, Lovejoy, Acuff, Rice, Bates, Ballard, Randle, and Geeter. That's eight players. Some may question why I included Ballard. I did so because EMU outscored their opponents by a big margin in the limted minutes he played in conference play.

EMU's starters should be stronger than last season, but still remains to be seen how well they gel together.

I want to have confidence in 10-players, and would like to add more names to that list. Surely, Luka S. and others may have improved their skill-set over tge summer.
