TJ Lang donated to the SAPC.

Andrew Wylie has also, I thought he was the last big name EMU athlete to donate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0lDz_FS1uo

Wylie committed big bucks. Think it was 150k. Don't know if Crosby has.

BTW, I committed for a locker, too. Lockers are $2,500. Donors can go 1 - 5 years. Nice way to make a gift without breaking the bank.

A couple tears ago Antonio Bryant donated heated benches for the players at CMU. I emailed Game Above asking if they could provide that for our guys.

I would love nothing more than Maxx to provide a financial gift to EMU that would allow for something like a heated bench for our guys during the cold Maction night games or perhaps something to get rid of our track inside the stadium, moving up the stands to create a more intimate game experience. (easy said when it's not my money lol)

I agree, not my money and he can do with it as he pleases, but I hope a little bit of his guaranteed 53 million comes back to help out the football program. Would love to his name on something. "The MAXX CROSBY Retractable Roof" at Rynearson Stadium.

RE: EMU Athletic Facilities
OK guys let's consider something here. Maxx just signed a huge contract to be sure and I would love to see a big donation from him. That said, Maxx's income curve for the rest of his life is extremely front-loaded, he won't make that kind of money in his mid-thirties.

We all have wish lists for EMU facility improvements, but how many of us actually contribute as well? Hey, I realize that many of us might make $100K or less a year but a contribution like Steve does for a locker would really make an impact if we all did instead of deferring to our pro athletes and Game Above instead. Many companies also match employee donations to universities.

EMU does appreciate it.

Actually it isn't the size of the gift but the fact that you do it that matters. We need more folks donating-period and whatever they can afford to give whether that is $25 or $250k. Another way is to purchase season tickets or attend games. Just get involved.

Steve's locker is $2500 and you can spread it over 5 years.

20 guys buy lockers and that is $50,000, hardly an insignificant amount.

Thanks for sharing Frank. Besides removing the track, it would be great to announce a 5-10 year plan on dismantling the current stands and erecting stands closer to the field.

Agree. IF EMU (or one of us) wins the lottery, EMU could demo the west stands and rebuild them (and with a badly needed new press box) about 15 feet closer to the field, over where the track is now.

EMU does have a decision to make: They would like to have a new press box, but would they want to spend 15 - 20M on a new press box sitting on stands which were built in I believe 1964?

If not, could EMU find say 50M for new west stands, press box, etc.???

So this was right? I can't believe it. I found that back in February. Well at least we know their plan for the future.

https://www.osports.com/Project/7/127/3

Wow. You discovered the treasure trove of information as to what EMU athletics would like to do!!! +3

Isn't great to talk about some REAL plans rather than what we may speculate!

Taking the view from 30,000 feet (maybe a low altitude flyover):

0). The design is modular. The entire site is divided into zones and planned within each zone. Each planned action appears to be independent of the others AFTER the new Westview Apts are completed in a few years.

1). It would over time, much time, move all EMU athletics over to West Campus. Most obvious is an indoor track which today is, of course, at Bowen.

2). It shows a proposed location for an OUTDOOR TRACK. 02-13-banana 03-cloud9 02-13-banana

3). Shows how student housing fits in the grand scheme.

4). It shows MODIFIED EAST STANDS for Rynearson.

5). It shows a lot of possible development for Olympic sports.

What I like is that this could be thought of as a say 25 year plan. It literally is ala carte where once Westview Apts are demolished and rebuilt a lot of new land is available for development.

EMU essentially 'traded' the old Westview Apts. for new apartments plus the land for an outdoor and indoor track. That is fricking HUGE!!!

This is a master stroke by EMU athletics and the university (the U is doing the student housing).

The U and EMU athletics are really getting it done. Wouldn't it be fun to be 21 and a student again. 02-13-banana

One of our posters suggested a field house replacing one side with stands, press box, etc. built into it.

It might be hard to accomplish because the design of Rynearson is a horse shoe with curved stands.

Any thoughts???

I'm looking at the facility photo in this Tweet.

I really would like to see the field moved 10 - 15 yards to the South and maybe have a party area near the SAPC. This, of course, assumes removing the track.

Here is an example of a small, but well designed college baseball field (it is Harwell Field at Wayne State). Hard to believe WSU has a better facility than say some MAC schools.

Seems like a good way to 'consolidate' all of our thoughts on things like SAPC, thoughts on Rynearson, improvements to George Gervin Game Above Center, soccer and lacrosse field, baseball stadium, IPF, the tracks inside Rynearson and Bowen, the golf practice facility, etc.

First, here is the EMU Athletic Department's website entry for 'facilities': https://emueagles.com/facilities

Starting with the most recent facility update, the George Gervin GA Center:

https://emueagles.com/news/2022/7/20/gen...ience.aspx

This is apparently part of a bigger package of improvements including video walls and redoing the EMU athletic Hall of Fame. The HOF was built into an obscure part of the Gervin Center and will be more prominently re-located.

Also the outdoor video will be redone (I know little about this).

Improvements to athletic facilities are a must, however, with declining enrollments, with no end in sight how will Eastern, let alone any MAC school be able to continue with business as usual? The amount of money collected from athletic fees from students has got to be much less with 35% - 45% enrollment decline.

EMU has used tuition dollars to fund athletics for at least 20 years. The only way that ends is if EMU joins the GLIAC.

Just read an article: Cost 2.3M. Note: That was 2017 and those 2.3M dollars don't buy as much today.

While watching MACtion last night I did a little homework on Ohio's stadium. It used to have a track. They lowered the field 10 ft and extended the bleachers inward. Looks like they also took the dirt they dug up and made a hill at one end.

This is what Rynearson needs.
