At this stage of the game, I'm so disinterested in the NCAA perspective that I don't even really care what the violations are.

The rules and enforcement mechanisms should be conference based so as to remain more tied to the institutions creating them, subject to oversight by the interested parties, and flexible. I'm one that believes in the consent of the governed. People can debate whether Power conference schools have a disproportionate amount of control over their own affairs, but the fact remains they are out-voted on a lot of fundamental issues.

The SEC should be deciding the rules of play for its members and how they'll be punished if they stray outside the lines.

Get the NCAA out of the game...
