EMU Football 2022 RB
EMU had a nice stable of RBs last year with Hamilton being a pleasant surprise. CC often goes with the hot RB. So lets start with the two favorites I believe will get the bulk of playing time. Will we see more of the ground game this year given the QB depth situation and Powell not being a real running threat?
Samson Evans Sr. 6'0 220 had a solid year with 83 carries for 316 yards and 13 TDs to go with 19 receptions and 107 yards. He seems to improve each year.
Darius Boone Jr. 5'11 200 120 carries for 451 yards and 6 TDs. Evans and Boone seem to alternate and are a nice 1 2 punch.
Jaylon Jackson Jr. 5'8 165 had 87 carries at Lamar for 309 yards and 2 TDs and looks like a nice change of pace back.
Bryson Moss is a sophomore 5'11 200 had 22 carries for 69 yards.
DJ Smith is a junior 5'9 190 who had 7 carries for 38 yards.
So it looks like we can go 5 deep at RB.
Elijah Jackson Anderson is a true frosh 5'11 185 who may see action this year. I believe true frosh can play up to 4 games and not lose their redshirt.I like to see what he can do.
Michael Foor 5'11 212 Jr. and Sebastian Toland Sr. 5'8 190 are additional depth on the roster.
Boone and Evans are the keys here. If they both continue to improve that will take the burden off the passing game and the defense.

Dear emu79,
I like your analysis, but would also add two caveats. Eastern needs better blocking to open holes for the backs to run, and we need better play calls then constant dives off tackle.

One thorn in my side last season was the constant QB read option which was handed 99.999999% of the time. It basically became a delayed hand off to the RB and a 1-3 yard loss many times. If you have QBs that are not going to run the ball (Bryant and now Troy) then stop running read options that the other team means a delayed handoff.

Good point, Ken. I think with Sow, Howey and Dooley that we the maulers to move people and open holes
