In 15 years, if UWF can:

1. Move up to Division 1
2. Maintain a similar level of success in FCS as they have in D2
3. Build an on campus stadium

they would be a decent addition to the G5. Right now though, absolutely not.

That would be true IF they went through the process, but that will take a lot of growing, effort and money. They have really built a solid fan base. I agree that UWF would fit perfectly in the footprint.

I took a quick glance at West Florida. The university itself is pretty much Florida's version of Coastal Carolina in terms of enrollment, endowment, academics, mission statement, etc. Not sure the CCU fella should be poopooing at West Florida necessarily.

I have no clue on their athletics. Probably not worth a serious look unless Grayson McCall transfers there.

The Baseball, Softball, and Football teams are really good. The most recent was won by the Football program which was started in 2015 and then won the 2019 NCAA Division II Football Championship.

Baseball won the national DII title in 2011.

The Softball teams has won the National DII title twice, 1993 and 2004.

FJ adds a new twist to conference realignment. I’d be better with a UWF add if they were a little bit further east, like Destin or Panama City, just because I really don’t care for Pensacola.

Did you read that. They are putting temporary bleachers at their practise field. The article did say eventually they will build but no plans are mentioned. So...maybe or they may continue with temp seats.
