I'd be intrigued to see a programmed digital network, a lot like you might see on Pluto TV (they have ACC and Pac-12 networks on there, but nothing that carries live content).
Create a digital channel that replays Big 12 games, coaches shows, classic games and studio shows. Don't have it carry any live content (as then it takes away from ESPN+ and trying to sell subscriptions, of course). ESPN has assembled a library of content, this is something they could do with a small amount of effort.
While the Big 12 Network may not be on a linear network...the main tv partners will be. (Some want all tv rights to go digital).
After mentioning in his presser and Q&A that he has had strong relationships with ESPN & FOX for YEARS...and noting that they are the "best in the business", he was asked how soon he would talk to the Big 12's current TV Partners (FOX & ESPN) about their upcoming deal....Yormark said: "I talked to them at least every other day".
Linear (i.e. tv channels for older folks) is important...and while FOX might go for the largest share of the contract...having ESPN in the fold is sooooo important...because once you leave ESPN...your games, highlights, results or even the name of your schools or conf will never be aired on any Sportscenter, Talk Show, Game Day, etc...
Now Yormark is interested in streaming options too...(especially Olympic Sports, especially basketball), so I do think the Big 12 will add a streaming partner.
Could be Amazon? Youtube? ESPN+? Hulu? Paramount? Netflix? etc...
Finally...and this might even be MORE important than total $$$ these networks/companies will pay for Big 12 TV Rights...Yormark will REQUIRE ALL NEW PARTNERS to help enhance and promote the conf, plus ENGAGED our fan base...as that is how your brand can grow!!
Yormark sees the BIG picture...and not just straight TV $$$ that a competitor might throw our way but do little to no "promotion/engagement" for the conf.
