BIG 12 versus PAC TV Viewers
Found this on the MWC message board, page 162 of a thread titled "WILMER: USC and UCLA are leaving the PAC 12." A detailed explanation of the numbers is contained there. The greatest impact is the TV slot given to the team and obviously teams like Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, etc are going to get the primary TV slots. Data is for 2015-2019. The person who put this data together left out Cincinnati.
The surprise in the data is Washington State U which is located in the far southeastern corner of the state. Maybe the very long distance from Seattle to Pullman causes a low turnout at the gate but their alumni are obviously turning on their tv sets, especially during bad weather crossing the Cascade mountains. WSU draws its largest amount of students from Seattle. In years past, it was Spokane and eastern Washington.

Mike Leach was WSU HC during this period iirc and there was national interests in watching his team. Many TTU fans became WSU fans then.

RE: BIG 12 versus PAC TV Viewers
Cincinnati isn't on your list, I think you mixed them and Cali up since Cali is bolded.
Also this isn't really an apples to apples comparison since UCF, UC & UH had a bunch of conference games against media juggernauts Temple, Tulane, Tulsa & ECU.
A good starting point would be Navigate's P12 expansion data from last year which broke out P5 matchup data.

I did use California's numbers in arriving at my conclusion. This was entered in error. The actual number (after redacting California) is 925,455.00.

That's why the whole rumor of the PAC12 wanting UCF and BYU kicked out if they merge didn't make any sense. Conference realignment is driven by television contracts - why would you kick out teams that are more valuable to your contract negotiation than some you plan to keep?

Them not wanting BYU is plausible. No way I could see Cal Berkeley and BYU in the same conference. Both sides probably view the others as aliens.

Interesting link. Sample sizes make it less than ideal (18 games vs weak P5's vs 3 games with a whale labor day weekend matchup vs a blue blood is somehow the same?) but better than a lot of what's out there.
