Last Day in CUSA
I would like to say a heartfelt goodbye to CUSA. We had a good thing in CUSA 1.0, but in it's current form it is not in USM's interest to remain in a conference that both does nothing for USM and at the same time seems to foster open animosity towards USM.

We have certainly not helped our self with our worst decade ever in major sports over the past 10 years, but hopefully we have football headed back in a positive direction. Basketball is so bad that we hopefully will get a new coach after this season, and we probably would have last year if not for the exit fees. Baseball is rolling and looks to be a top 20 or so preseason team going into next season. So there is some justification for optimism heading into the SBC for us.

I hope you folks figure out to make it work for you all, and best of luck to you. I would like to see some home and home series down the roads to the teams that would actually travel well that remain.

Bye Bye Judy and your Barbie Jeep!

RE: Last Day in CUSA
In all honesty, I hope the SBC works out well for Southern Miss, as well as Marshall and ODU. Never been a "fan" of the Golden Eagles, but I have some fun memories from a stay on that campus (which we will not talk about because it was a long, long time ago) and I've always had a bit of a soft spot for you guys because of Brett Favre. (To this day, I hate Jerry Glanville for trading him away from the Falcons.)

And we JSU fans owe a lot to everyone leaving (including the AAC6) for finally opening a door for us to move up to FBS.

JSU and USM are only 300 miles apart (and USM's only 240 miles from Birmingham, where a ton of our alumni live) so this is a home-and-home which seems to make sense down the line. Maybe it'll happen.

In the meantime, good luck.

Yep, best of luck to JSU! Yes, I would like to see our teams play more going forward for sure. Drive-able games are one of the things most of us are a excited about in our new league.

It's more likely that our woeful Falcons(or Buckhead) would have changed the trajectory of Favre than the other way around...

Huge Favre fan here, watching him sling it around The Rock in Hattiesburg was one of the coolest things I ever got to watch. I got to watch Gregg Maddox & Nolan Ryan both pitch, so I would say that would be the closest equivalents I have seen live.

There are a ton of Packers fan's in south MS to this day due to what Brett did with the Pack.

Maybe you guys will actually be able to compete in the Sun Belt because you have been nothing but trash since we have been in CUSA and a constant anchor to the league. Good luck.

The conference exponentially improves upon your exit at midnight.

So FAU & UTSA fans are calling out USM for sucking? And saying good riddance when you’re just doing time for another year before you leave CUSA? That’s freaking rich.

I hope the Sun Belt encompasses the goals and ideals of your programs, and that each of you find long term success in that conference. I have no lingering ill will towards any of you. Tomorrow is a new slate. Best of luck.
