KD Davis in transfer portal?
I thought we were done with the portal. How does someone enter the transfer portal on June 23rd?

Sorry North Texas. Losing Davis after losing the Murphy twins to UCLA earlier in the spring has to really hurt.

Yes. He is gone. A week ago, Phil Steel named Davis a 4th Team All-American. Now Texas and their wallet showed up to snatched him.

I've tried telling people around here that this game is changing fast and it's going to cost more money to get and keep the players needed to win. None of us can protect our athletes from a program like Texas, but all of us are going to have to develop strategies to retain players or some of our programs will become farm teams for the rest of the FBS.

I hate to read this. The NCAA has created this monster and I doubt they will do little to correct it. Our (G5) coaches have to put together as much NIL funds as possible and constantly be recruiting our best players to stay as they are getting some good money offers to go play for the big money schools. Even then, we are going to lose some. And it's tough to blame players for leaving for a lot more money when most of us would do the same thing if offered significantly more money to change jobs.

I am honestly losing my interest in FBS college football somewhat. The NIL is going to kill any competitiveness the G5's had, which was already a step down. Maybe the Uber rich private G5 schools can compete. But, for 98% of us, it's big trouble.

The NCAA did not create a the monster. The NCAA spent $74,000,000 trying to prevent it and lost.

Davis actually pulled his name out of the portal today. Will be returning to North Texas. *whew*

I guess Davis received his contract demands. Sorry to be so blunt, but I do believe that's what things have come to at this point and time.

But regardless, congrats to UNT. When you get your star athletes to stay at your school another year, it's always a huge win for the underdogs.

I'm not quite sure how UNT managed to keep Davis from leaving for a major P5, but I'm glad he's staying. I'll find out how it went down.
