Exclamation Some SBC TV Viewer Numbers
These are the viewership numbers for each SBC team, from 2013-2021. It does not feature viewership numbers for streaming platforms, ESPN+, ESPN3, BeIN Sports, Stadium, NFL Network, CBS Sports Network, Facebook, FloSports, CUSA-TV, etc. This only includes nationally broadcast cable networks such as ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNNews, FS1, CBS, NBC, etc.

This includes all conference games and OOC games. Obviously, the P5 matchups add to the viewership numbers, but it evens itself out.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

A few things I noticed while compiling this:

* From 2019 to 2021, the viewership for SBC football saw a tremendous increase. Obviously, the performances of App State, Coastal, and Louisiana contributed to that... but it also happened around the same time the ESPN expansion deal began in 2020.

* Marshall was a big eyeball generator for CUSA. They received some of the most national TV spots while in CUSA, and had some of the highest numbers.

* Louisiana, App State, and Coastal Carolina collectively led the pack among the SBC when it came to viewership and TV time.

* Southern Miss also generated a lot of eyeballs for CUSA. They averaged over 1-million viewers among all of their TV games. USM also never had extremely low viewership numbers like many G5 teams have on occasion. Their baseline viewership was between 450K and 500K when they were on national TV against another G5 opponent, which is quite respectable... especially considering they weren't given a lot of national TV spots in CUSA.

* Old Dominion was given very little TV opportunities during their time in CUSA.

* JMU's numbers are a bit skewed because most of their national TV appearances were from FCS Playoff games on ESPN.

* ULM was the only team to not have a game with viewership over 1 million since 2013... BUT they also haven't had the benefit of getting much TV time or making it to a bowl game like others.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Top Games With Highest Viewing numbers:
1. Louisiana vs. Texas (2021) - 2.879 million
2. JMU vs. North Dakota State (2020) - 2.69 million

RE: Some SBC TV Viewer Numbers
See that's what cracks me up when CUSA calls USM and Marshall dead weight. We have history and history has fans. Even when we are losing we pull good numbers because we have a brand name following.

8 of our number generating games were bowl games in those 9 years. We did as much as anyone to keep CUSA on the map and they worked against us the whole damn way. Swimming up stream for 9 years. Gonna be nice to float on a tube all the way back downstream with everyone going the same direction.

USM and Marshall combined to bring about 40 million eyeballs to that conference over relatively very few appearances. They're not replacing that with any moveups and they're not getting that with their current lineup. And that ladies and gentlemen is why they wanted to keep us another year. We saturate our medium markets. Those giant market schools that are AAC bound don't even have a toe in the door, except UTSA. Their fans seem very loyal.

When you go up three scores and close the playbook in the third quarter in half the games like App has, people don't stick around and watch the whole thing.

Arkansas State is the Furman of the Sun Belt. Used to be good. Couldn’t keep it together.

You can't look at games against P5 schools, games from different networks, weekend bowl games, etc. and draw conclusions worth jack s#%t. How do you draw in conference games on similar dates and networks? Playing Texas and acting like 95% weren't tuned in to see Texas is just silly.

Don't we have a conference championship ring from 2016?
Didn't we beat multiple ranked teams since you've joined?
Didn't we beat Kansas State in Manhattan, KS just a couple of years ago?

All things better than that one game we beat App badly in Boone. The last two years have been awful but don't act like we've been bad for a long while.
