I bet the MAC has the most difficulty getting games scheduled against other G5's among all the G5 conferences.

The SB, AAC, and C-USA basically all overlap. They share recruiting territory. Fanbases may run into each other. Many schools have shared histories and/or rivalries. There is incentive for those three leagues to play each other. And then the MW is regarded within the G5 as a strong league with some brand names, so the three leagues in the Southeast are willing to play them.

What's the incentive to play MAC teams, other than to fill schedule holes?

I don't mind that App is playing Toledo H&H later this decade. They have a solid history and a pretty good fanbase. But the closer teams make more sense to play.

TXST has done EMU and Ohio. They had a series with BGU but it got cancelled.

Yeah. Their students said no to student fees (don't blame them) and that leaves the bearkats in a huge quandary. Where are they getting the money to move up? Facility upgrades alone are going to be in the 100-200 million range and that's on the low end. The fact that there aren't any stadium renderings or plans for any facility upgrades this late in the game is a huge red flag and a sure sign that they administration bit off more than they can chew. Wouldn't surprise me if SHSU cancels the FBS move at the last moment.
With that said, I personally wouldn't mind playing them. Its an easy drive to Huntsville, especially from Houston where we have tons of alumni. I can easily see both TXST and SHSU bringing 2,000-3,000+ visitors every time we play and maybe even more on good years for both schools.

We have one or two every year, but they're next door neighbors to us. Neighbors with cars on blocks and aluminum cans all over the yard, but neighbors nonetheless.

ROFLMAO!! That would be in Alabama. About the only thing interesting over there would be the drive from Jacksonville, Alabama (located near Gadsden, I think) to the Birmingham Riverchase Galleria mall. You can make faces at the UAB fans while you are there, LOL!!

I get what you are saying but I think it is good for us to play some of these MAC schools for brand recognition. There are a lot of people and good schools with fans. I would love to play OHIO home and away as well as Buffalo. Toledo will be fun. I like to go to any school with fans. I don't like playing at empty stadiums.
