Ty is still on the roster though, even if relieved of his duties. He isn't a free agent

He is a free agent, and wont be on the roster once training camp starts. He was signed to a one year deal In March 2021. He only has three years of service so technically the chargers still have his rights until the start of training camp. If the chargers don't make him a qualifying offer before then (and they wont) he becomes a free agent.


Ty ranked last in the NFL in NET punt average last year and I believe was last in average return yards allowed. So he may be done, but its always possible another team signs him as camp competition.

He is still on their website as being on their roster, which is why i said that

He had a solid overall average but the net punting was bad and their coverage wasn’t great either.

Hopefully he gets another chance somewhere else.
