First few weeks of TV
Last year, that announcement was made on 5/27 so I assume the Sun Belt will make that announcement in late May again.

Taking a guess at our schedule-

Norfolk State - ESPN+
@Notre Dame - NBC (confirmed)
@Bowling Green - ESPN+ (MAC announced their first few weeks of TV in May too)
@Troy - ESPN+

I'm hoping CBSSN will buy the Bowling Green game since they take a few MAC games every year. And that ESPN might want to put our first Sun Belt game on TV. But that's hoping. My head says those will be ESPN+

Care to take a guess on yours?

RE: First few weeks of TV
Only game I’m sure will be linear is our home opener vs VT. It was moved to Friday Sept 2.

We have ECU in week 2 and UVA week 3 both away. Probably ESPN+ and ACCN but who knows.

RE: First few weeks of TV
As I recall we only got the first 2 or 3 weeks of game times announced in May last year but I'll take a whirl at it.

9/3 @South Carolina - SECN, Coach Elliott thinks it will be a night game.
9/10 UNC - ESPNU or ESPN+ with a likely noon kick though I'm hoping hosting our first P5 in Center Parc Stadium will get us at least a afternoon kick or ideally a night game. No high hopes though.
9/17 Charlotte - ESPN+, probably a 2/3p kick.
10/1 @Army - CBSSN already known, hoping for a 2/3p kick for that one as well.

Ironically enough playing each other. TV and Time TBA.

That'll be a CBS Sports Network game too then. That'll impact when your gametime is most likely. I'd imagine they get the "prime" afternoon slot (seems to be the favored timeslot for academies/CBS for some reason).

RE: First few weeks of TV
I miss the JP Sports broadcasts and Saturday’s Down South from the 90s.

I also miss the old NCAA football show they used to have with Samantha Steele (Ponder).
That was a really neat show that took you to campuses across the country.

Edit: I remember the show, but I can’t find it anywhere on the internet. And I swear I remember her and another guy as hosts, but there’s zero mention of it in her bio. Maybe it was someone else.
I remember it used the actual old ncaa football logo with the triangle.

Anyone care to add or link anything the can find or remember?

What I’d like to see is this:

Wishful thinking with ABC APP game.
But I’d like to see it on a night time ESPN game.

I think FS1 or Pac-12 Network is more likely but would be pleased if I'm wrong and it's ESPNU.

RE: First few weeks of TV
Goodness yes.

The worst thing about CUSA (aside from FB Watch) was if you were listed for CBS Sports network, that didn’t mean you were actually on national CBS sports network. So you never knew how or where to find any game. Everyone always asking at the last minute trying to figure it out.

A concise, easy to find broadcast schedule is such a refreshing experience.
I just wish we were playing you all this year. But happy to still be conference mates!

There's wishful thinking and then there's certifiable insanity...lol

You newbies will figure out quickly enough that while our TV games have increased, the best we're ever going to hope for is an Afternoon game on ESPN.

Neat graphic! Imo, Switch the Bowling Green and JMU games to ESPN+, and the Appalachian State game to ESPN2 and I think it'll be close. A lot probably depends on what type of season we are having at that point.

RE: First few weeks of TV
I was just throwing out a fun late season matchup for Marshall-App.

I don’t expect that schedule, but the last 2 years have produced a lot of eye balls on TV.

2020 was CBS linear broadcast in the coveted Saturday 3:30pm time slot, due to SEC not playing yet. And we were one of the first CFB games back on TV since covid shut down. Regardless, it drew eye balls. And everyone on national TV and National radio was talking about how nice it was to see fans in the stands in Huntington and how they missed it. I cannot find the TV viewership for 2020 anywhere. If someone can find this game please let me know.

2021 ESPN linear broadcast with a sell out crowd at APP.
It was the 14th highest rated game in week 4 coming in right behind Ohio St game.
And drew 1.014M viewers.

The point is, rivalries garner fans and eye balls. Throw in a late season ranked vs ranked game and you never know how it might get picked up.

I think we’ll all be in for a surprise with the new TV deal. I’d be just fine with a healthy dose of ESPNU and ESPN2 games, with some ESPN thrown in there. And all other games on ESPN+ unless you’re playing at a non-conf opponent that is broadcast on another network.
