I think we keep cheezit in Orlando,
Liberty, Valero, and Tex bowl won't have many better choices available.
We may lose a bowl or 2 but not many more than that, because the bowls simply don't have better options avalilable.
I didn't think about it that way. I was just thinking as a UCF fan when we joined the Big East / AAC that we joined a conference with a bowl lineup that looked much less Big East and a lot more C-USA.

I'm not sure why you'd doubt that? It's a natural geographic fit for both the SEC and B12 and has tradition with both conferences. It's not like the Sugar Bowl would dislodge the B10 and Pac 12 winners from the Rose Bowl, or that an ACC champ not in the CFP in a given year, such as Pitt, would draw better than Baylor or Oklahoma State against the SEC.

It's not been discussed a lot on this board but to me the bowl affiliations are one of the biggest advantages the B12 has for new members BYU, UH, UC, and UCF. Had #4 Cincy lost by a point to Houston in the AAC Championship game last year, they would have fallen all the way down to a bowl against a minimally qualifying ACC or SEC also ran. The B12 bowl lineup assures the top finishers of quality opponents in recognized major bowls.

I was excited about the Orange Bowl tie when we joined the Big East. That all fell apart pretty quickly. I’m not going to allow myself to get excited about a Sugar Bowl tie.

The Big East lost the Orange Bowl tie after 2006. We weren't invited to join until December 2011. OB tie in was long gone by then, the Big East just had an at-large BCS spot afterwards through the end of the BCS era.

Oh true, I guess I was confused between the BCS tag and the Orange Bowl tie.

Actually that's the one bowl for sure I expect the Big 12 to keep. In fact I expect things to pretty much stay the same going forward. In fact I personally think that is why the Big 12 sent out that statements excitingly promoting the large alumni bases and enrollment of the incoming schools as well as the markets as well as BYU's national appeal. There is no doubt I my mind that the Big 12 leadership got a seal of approval and a thumbs up from the TV and bowl partners.

Yeah, it is confusing. The Big East was considered a "floating" BCS conference, we were guaranteed a BCS bowl slot but we had to see how it played out. That's why in 2010 Cincinnati won the Big East title yet went to the Sugar Bowl instead of the Orange Bowl. It was the ACC champion vs an At-Large team.

There'd be no justification in dropping any Big 12 affiliations; we've been winning.

Bolded, maybe that would be the reason. 05-stirthepot

I completely agree. The Big 12 is delivering quality opposition and I'm sure conference teams are following prime directive #1: sell plenty of bowl tickets.

How well do Cincinnati fans travel to bowl games? Cyclone fans travel extremely well unless it's the Humanitarian Bowl. 03-puke

I know BYU fans are dying for better tie-ins. First crack they get at the Alamo Bowl will be a sellout.

2009 was the year that made UC somewhat of a football school and not just basketball. Definitely a new era of Bearcat football since then. I'd say pretty well. Fickell has been getting hosed due to stadium size, storms, COVID, but finally got a taste last year against BAMA. 2011-2013 are best gauges for normal times with good stadium sizes and just solid teams but nothing special (just above or at .500 for both teams).

The Big 12 bowl games are unbelievable compared to the American. I don't think Big 12 fans will have to worry about us embarrassing the conference for awhile traveling to bowls if we qualify.

1947 Sun Bowl against VPI 10,000
1951 Sun Bowl against West Texas State 16,000
1997 Humanitarian Bowl against Utah State 16,289
2000 Motor City Bowl against Marshall 52,911
2001 Motor City Bowl against Toledo 44,164
2002 New Orleans Bowl against North Texas 19,024
2004 Fort Worth Bowl against Marshall 27,902
2007 International Bowl against Western Michigan 26,717
2007 PapaJohns.com Bowl against Southern Miss 35,258

2009 Orange Bowl against Virginia Tech 57,821
2010 Sugar Bowl against Florida 65,207
2011 Liberty Bowl against Vanderbilt 57,103
2012 Belk Bowl against Duke 48,128
2013 Belk Bowl against North Carolina 45,211
2014 Military Bowl against Virginia Tech 34,277 (Stadium Size)
2015 Hawaii Bowl against San Diego St 22,793 (Distance)
2018 Military Bowl against Virginia Tech 32,832 (Stadium Size)
2020 Birmingham Bowl against Boston College 27,193 (Game only played due to UC AD or would have been cancelled due to storm. Last year of worst stadium in the country as well)
2021 Peach Bowl against Georgia 15,301 (COVID Restrictions. This would have sold out in normal year)
2021 Cotton Bowl Classic against Alabama 76,313

That 1947 Sun Bowl attendance was so disappointing vs. 15,000 the year before and 18,000 the year after. 04-chairshot
The weather was terrible. It snowed and was cold raining too. Friend of mines grandfather was a runnng back on that team.
