I was. UIW has shown zero committment to actually getting better and investing in their programs. Remains to be seen whether Morris was just lightning in a bottle.

They're perfect for the Southland and should have stayed there.

And that’s what happens when you join an unstable conference that will take anybody.

That was also the southland. UNO, UIW, HBU, et al.

Instability and bad basketball in the case of the SLC

If you have some sort of ambition, the WAC is head and shoulders above the SLC. If you want to remain a bottom feeder, then you remain in the SLC. SLC basketball is horrible.

Congratulations. This is the second time SFA has voted UIW into your conference. Might as well go for Houston Baptist again too. Especially if you end up leaving the WAC anyway.

Basically they are in the same predicament as the MEAC and possibly the Big South (with this past season having 12 full members (5 of them playing football, excluding affiliates) to just 10 (and 3 with football)).

Didn't they just add UTA&M Commerce? Regardless I'm happy as at least well help ensure that the WAC sticks around for the near future. I'm assuming there's no other rumors in regards to other D2 teams moving up such as West Texas A&M and Midwestern state? Been some chat on other message boards so just curious, supposedly the WAC was in contact with them.

Commerce did join the Southland.

The league was at the minimum if not below the minimum in several sports. They have added affiliate members particularly in the men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis to help solve some of these Olympic sport issues.

WTAMU president is on record with Matt Brown sharing that they are not interested in Division I. Nothing that I have heard or seen on Midwestern State.

Looking at the Southland's history, it looks like they married into the wrong Division in football. They went all in for 1-AA instead of doing what the MVC did initially and having multiple schools in both. Large portions of the Sun Belt, Conference USA and now portions of the AAC are former SLC schools. Had they stayed up, they'd likely be the Sun Belt about now.

As it is, they are struggling to stay afloat and take all comers who want in. Wasn't that long ago they were actively refusing the overtures of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UTPA. ULM Texas State back in the 1980's. Now they'd take anyone with a heartbeat.
