RE: Change is coming
It seems inevitable that there will be some sort of split. The time is now though to be making the investments to try our best to be on the right side of that situation.

RE: Change is coming
I think the bottom P5 teams are going to like it a lot less than G5. Oregon State, Washington State, etc. aren't going to make the cut when the TV companies demand the new division get cut to 40ish teams.

No matter how they slice the pie, this is going to boil down to "The rich get richer".

RE: Change is coming
For the current G5 teams this could be turned into a good thing, if you choose to view it that way. It’s a chance for some of us to become conference mates with current SEC and ACC school. Vandy, Kentucky, Wake Forrest and Duke come to mind very quickly.
I still believe this will be a football only breakaway and other sports will remain as they are. I think football conferences will begin to work like the MVFC.

Possibly but the current consensus of the majority of D-I conference seems to be if you withdraw in football, you will not be allowed to stay for the other sports.

We needed to be investing over 20 yrs ago. UAB should have been in the AAC back when the Big East imploded. Now we're behind the 8-ball in a major way and time isn't on our side. There are P-5 programs that isn't going to be on the right side of this situation when it's all said and done. And do our illustrious BOT even wants UAB to be on the right side?

RE: Change is coming
If there's a legit split, we won't be included. There's several programs who have invested way more than we have and have way more history that won't be included.

Never really know how this will play itself out. It if someone offered to put UAB in a conference with ECU, Memphis, UCF, Louisville, Cincinnati, you know, the OG CUSA, you guys would jump in a second. Well that could be the end result. If the OG CUSA got back together, that would be a hell of a conference. Even if it isn’t top shelf, FBS super league football.

Don't know what you are referring to with this UAB would jump in a minute thing but if all of this comes to fruition it will be some haves and a whole bunch of have nots. And if the some haves are getting a hefty portion of the tv and playoff monies it's not gonna be a lot left for the have nots.
The FBS super league is going to be the haves, not the have nots.

If, say, the top 48 programs were to break off and form a Super Conference, it's going to be the Haves and the rest of us.
The networks will bid themselves silly to sign them, too.

RE: Change is coming
They won’t have to “break off” — the new structure will let conferences set their own rules. The big ten and sec will just add who they want to add and pass rules for themselves no one else can afford, and that will be that.
